I know I am way out here in left field with this, but it would be nice if Sound Choice put on a gothic compilation cd. These are a few suggestions for a Gothic Compilation. Any other suggestions?
JUKE JOINT JEZEBEL by KMFDM
Sex on wheelz by My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult
Headhunter by Front 242
Sin City by The Genitortures
Down in it by Nine inch nails
Stars and stripes by KMFDM
The Dope Show by Marilyn Manson

i don't think KMFDM qualifies for goth...they're really industrial...that'd be like asking for Static-X or Rammstein...sure it is appealing to most goth rockers...but it shouldn't be on there...most of what you seem to be asking for is borderline industrial...
goth is known for being melodic...that's 1 of my main fav. genre's...goth and black metal...which ranges from Evanescence to Cradle of Filth...
so with that said... Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams Marilyn Manson - Beautiful People
KoRn - Thoughtless
Lacuna Coil - Heaven's A Lie Lacuna Coil - Swamped
Ayreon - Loser
Otep - Sacrilege
Stabbing Westward - Sometimes it Hurts
Dope - Now or Never Dope - Always
Aenem - Time
Cradle of Filth - Nymphetamine Fix Cradle of Filth - Scorched Earth Erotica
and any of the songs from Queen of the Damned would be awesome!!

You are correct about KMFDM...but I still think some of their stuff added to Karaoke would be great...esp Juke Joint Jezebell. The last time I saw KMFDM is Nov of 2004 they did attract a Goth like crowd.

I'll second the Manson, Juke Joint Jezebel, and Sex on Wheelz. Industrial-wise, howabout "Join In the Chant" from Nitzer Ebb and Goth-wise, some Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, more Cure, Bela Lugosi's Dead by Bauhaus and Cuts You Up by Peter Murphy would be alright with me

Please forgive me again...yes you are all correct ,,I got a little ahead of myself with the KMFDM ...It does attract a goth like crowd I would also classify them as more industrial. KMFDM would still be a great addition to the Sound Choice Karaoke catalog

Static X "Cold" is a great song...i'd have a lot of fun singing that...but it still wouldn't go for an Gothic Comp disc...industrial yes...but Goth...no...i like a few of the industrial artists...but just cause we're attracted to it...doesn't make it Goth...

lol...well...i highly doubt that u'd be able to dance to any REAL goth rock or black metal...or anything that's really goth...clubs play techno, industrial, and remixes...they kinda have to...or else you're left with a boring dead crowd...so like i said...just because it's attractive to the goth crowd...and u can get away w/ it being played in clubs...doesn't make it goth...
kinda like if a vegitarian likes bacon...it doesn't make bacon a vegetable...

I also would love to see Nymphetamine Fix by Cradle Of Filth available. Hell, and I can't give a damn about whether it is Goth or Black Metal or Goth Pop or Rock Goth or Bacon Goth or Vegtable Pop. Posts: 2246 | From: Palmdale, CA, USA | Registered: Oct 2001

it's all in how one runs a show, RC. You know that. If your show appeals to Goths, then you'll have a decidedly goth element.
Gem talks often about the types of songs he requests, and you can tell he appeals to that type of crowd. I have more of a classic rock/ country and h/b type crowd that comes into mine. I'd never ask for the Goth NOR the hip hop! LOL! Doesn't mean that those types aren't in our area, though!
Personally, I've driven through Salina... it's a big college town, and the types vary from one extreme to the other. Just like anywhere!
Heck, ya GOTTA do something different than cow-tippin' for entertainment!

I put graphics to the original version of Headhunter because I've gotten so many requests from people to just sing over the cd. I didn't modify the track (remove the original vocals), but it needed the visual cues because no one remembers when the vocals start in that song and there's so many remixes out there that the order of the parts is a little fuzzy.
I'm thinking about doing the same for some KMFDM and newer VNV Nation stuff. I also get a lot of request from people wanting to sing over Wolfsheim's "Once in a Lifetime."
These are all owned by Metropolis Records, so the lack of karaoke versions might be a licensing thing. The hardcore goth crowd is not very nice to the karaoke scene, but I have a lot of ex-goths and rivetheads at my bars.

Some more Gary Numan would be sweet too. I'd love some of the oldies like "Are Friends Electric," "Down in the Park," "Me I Disconnect from You," and even newer stuff like "Dominion Day," or "Dark."
