First off, thanks to Sound choice for "Date Rape". One of the more poignant songs that Sublime did. I think that we could stand to have more Sublime available in the karaoke format. "Doin' Time" and "2446 What's My Number" are two examples of the eclectic flavor that the Long Beach sound seems to have.
Item 2: Cake! Can't get enough of that band! I am saddened that no company has had the foresight to produce "Love You Madly" yet! and what about some of the other cuts from "Fashion Nugget"? "Italian Leather Sofa", "Daria", "Frank Sinatra", "Comanche" (wait- that's a different album ) We could use more fun-type uptempo stuff in this flavor...ska is a little out there for many but Cake seems to fill the gap nicely.
finally, any chance to get any of the, um, "unique" covers as done by Me First And the Gimme Gimmes? thought I should check.
thanks for letting me rant.

I too second Cake's cover of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" which would be an excellent choice for karaoke... Also I want to second Sublime's "Bad Fish" and also submit Sublime's "Garden Grove" and The Long Beach Dub All-Star's "Sunny Hours"...
Be back soon with some more requests... Thanks - Rainman -

I would love to do Me First and The Gimme Gimmes versions of either I Believe I Can Fly or Nothing Compares 2 U. They also have a new disc coming out next week with covers of Stairway To Heaven and Heart Of Glass.

Hmm...8448,8503,8565...these three CDGs are no longer available, apparently.. And what do they have in common? They all have a Cake song on'em. This bodes ill for us fans.... BC? Can you confirm or deny whether my fears are founded? Does cake have issues (licensing ones, that is..)? Posts: 745 | From: Portland, OR, USA | Registered: Aug 2000

The other common thread with those discs, is that they are 5 or more years old. I don't know how many copies of a disc SC orders to replenish stock, but I wonder if the piracy climate is such that they don't feel it's worth it to re-order older discs like that. BC has said several times that a large number of the discs they've discontinued are still out in the retail stream somewhere, so hopefully that's all it is with these 3, and not another artist "above" karaoke.

could also be lack of demand. They don't have but one song on their custom disc site!
