gee Tim, I would think helping someone be a productive member would be to assist them, not antagonize 'em... all of us were newbies at one time or another. You attract more flies with honey than vinegar.
On another thread, I mentioned that VH needs to not duplicate his efforrts.
Geez... take a pill, sit back, and see what this guy can do.
As for the Van Hopeless, I happen to take offront with that. They're a great band, and we fans deserve to have their stuff. I've never said beans about the oddball stuff you want. please give us the same consideration.

I think the Van Hopeless comment was directed to the fact that Van Halen is not going to release any more rights for anymore songs to karaoke.

It was stated that the VH brothers had said no to karaoke. I've seen VH and Hagar (and even Roth a couple of times) a lot. Hell, I once saw Sammy open for VH just before VH II, but listing long songs ain't helping the cause. I like VH and SH, now, a compromise. Knowning no VH tunes can be released, and maybe wanting a Sammy song, why not back up Rick Springfield's version of Sammy's I've Done Everything For You. If I remember this was a big hit, and to be honest, just about the only Springfield song I actually know (sorry Knightshow), and I'm wondering why it hasn't made it onto a 70's & 80's disc.

Lonman wins the I.Q. award today. Way to go.
Matt, yeah, I like oddball stuff. I'd give my left nut to have Roger Waters' "The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking" on karaoke. I even have mentioned it several times (over the years, at different times). NEVER IN TWO OR THREE POSTS ON TWO OR THREE THREADS ON THE SAME DAY.

Matt, I don't think you come around here as much as you used to (I think you said that elsewhere), so you probably aren't aware how many times this guy has posted the same stuff over and over the last month or so, and how many times BC has deleted the threads. Frankly, Tim's been gentle on him, and now the guy is starting to direct attacks at people who were actually trying to help his cause earlier, so I'm not going to get down on Tim for saying what he is now.
BC has flat out stated that VH isn't available for karaoke at this point, so that should be a clue to stop with the requests, since it's beyond SC's control anyway.
David, regarding I've Done Everything For You. If the Sammy version can't be done on karaoke, neither can the Springfield version. It's the song that gets licensed, not the particular version (otherwise, they likely would have put out all the country versions of the Eagles songs from the Common Thread CD)

Ahhh, I wasn't aware of the "no more" from Van Halen. bummer... cause I have been a loyal buyer of that market.
And yes Dan, one reason I don't come around anymore is the pack mentality that just happened, and the sandbox type rules. I had relegated myself to only being a "requestor" type poster, and to give credit to the SC brand where credit was due.
This thread has helped a lot with that decision. Thanks guys.
David, Rick Springfield is the one that wrote "I've Done Everything For You", so it's there the copyright lies, not with Sammy... I think! LOL! and no offense taken buddy.

Sammy released "I've Done Everything For You" on his Live All Night Long lp in 1978 - Rick Springfield released the Working Class Dog lp in 1981; and on Rick Springfields Web Site under discography and lyrics - the writing credit states Hagar.
So, since BC said VH is no longer available because of the Van Halen brothers, he did sort of say that Hagar and Roth were still okay, but that they thought they covered those artists enough at this time.
So I would still like to see I've Done Everything For You on karaoke either by Sammy or Rick (since BC didn't say that they covered enough Springfield songs that version might have a better chance.)
