I know I'm not much of a regular here, but I thought I'd throw my voice into the mix.
My one song I'd really like to have is a perfect version of Uriah Heep's Stealin' (When I Shoulda Been Buyin). Sure there are others, but this one is the big one, the song I would sing every chance I'd get.
Ya know, Matt, I'm surprised Second Wind isn't available. That's a really good song. I've always liked the "doo-woopy" songs that Billy Joel did.

One song? How about "You Made Me Believe In Magic" by the Bay City Rollers.

"Into The Fire" by Dokken. I'm hoping that one has a chance of making it someday. If we're talking obscure tunes, then "Another Day" or "Pull Me Under" by Dream Theater would be my pick.

LOL! I know!
It was a great video, and had a great message. I agree... his bluesier-type songs were the best.
Although I STILL think SC FAR outdid themselves with "The Downeaster Alexa"!! Man, that's my favorite disc EVER!!

I would like "I Really Hope" by The Cranberries, but because they say "no" to karaoke, my second choice is "Automatic Rainy Day" by The Go-Go's from the CD, "God Bless The Go-Go's.

Unfortunately, my most wanted songs usually change from year to year.
Since Devo's "Beautiful World" is soon to come out, along with "Girl U Want", I'm pretty happy. (and by the way, BC, according to Gerald Casale, Devo still holds the lyric & synch rights to all of their songs, and they are karaoke friendly, if you ever want to produce "Beautiful World", you probably ought to go to the Devo website and talk to them directly)
Oh, wait, there is one which has remained consistent.
"The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking"- Roger Waters.
I seem to remember that the album made it to #37 on the U.S. charts. Not a megahit, but not a real slouch either.

I would like to second 'SECOND WIND (You're Only Human)' by Billy Joel. It amazes me that no karaoke company has put it out yet, and it is one of the few Billy Joel songs I can actually stand anymore.
My dream song changes from year to year too, which is a good thing, because that means that Soundchoice is still cranking out the good old material. My song is:
RIDE ON - AC/DC
I would also like to take this time to thank Soundchoice for all the 'dream' requests of mine that have been filled over the years. There were so many, and you guys keep rockin'!
Soundchoice is still the best. No matter what the other folks say.

Sorry for the confusion Anthony, it's actually out right now on an imported manufacturer label, paid for part of the production out of my own pocket. Feel free to e-mail if you want details, as only one distributor actually imports the discs.

I'm also a supporter of You're Only Human, which is virtually the only song off any of Billy Joel's 3 Greatest Hits volumes not to be made for karaoke.

"Cry" by Godley & Creme (with the last high part dubbed in, so I can 'fake it' and get a laugh)
Would love to sing David Bowie's "As the world falls down" from Labyrnth. I know I could sing the hell out of that song, if given a chance.
But I would wish for my singers, "Anything Anything" by Dramarama. (I'll give you candy, give you diamonds, give you pills. I'll give you anything you want, hundred dollar bills)

"Gimme Shelter" By Rolling Stones & Heart backing them up, although I know there is the licensing problem. Queensryche redid it in concert with Heart, and it was a Blast!!

There's only one song that I've been waiting for an eternity to have on a karaoke. Its "Once Before I Go" by Peter Allen. It's the ultimate swan song. For the love of god, please, someone make this dream come true.
Happy New Year!

According to All Music Guide, Godley and Creme joined 10cc in 1970 and were members in the early 70s.
My dream song: Mark Weigle "Two Cowboy Waltz" But knowing that will never happen (since it was released by an independent artist and never a hit), I'll go with "Thank You For Being A Friend" by Andrew Gold or "Mr Blue Sky" by ELO

So hard to limit it to one. I would love "Hits of Steely Dan vol. 2" but since that isn't a song....I'll stick with my 2002 (not the year)posts for "Closer to Home (I'm your Captain)" by Grand Funk RR.

I found a disc on Ebay called Rare Cuts 70s Rock Classics and just got it in the mail today. It's got both "Mr. Blue Sky" by Electric Light Orchestra and "I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home" by Grand Funk Railroad. The arrangements are not as good as we would expect from Sound Choice but they really aren't all that bad either. It's certainly worth checking out. Would still like to see Sound Choice renditions though!

Thanks. Yeah, Madmaxx told me about that brand X version of "I'm Your Captain". I also know of other Steely Dan songs. I'm just a loyal Sound Choice foolatic waiting for these things to be done right.

Tell me, does that Rare Cuts CDG have a blue writing on the front of the CD? And, does the writing scratch off without any effort at all, almost like it was printed on with a lazer printer???? Two of mine did that I got from ebay just this week.
I'm beginning to suspect that they didn't make the music, just the graphics over somebody elses music. Some songs have a melody line for the vocals (like Pioneer or JVC) and some don't, on the same CDG! Very suspicious.

Hey 70s guy... it does have blue writing on it. I haven't tried to scratch it off though. I suppose what you are saying is possible. I've certainly never heard of "rare cuts". Is the arrangement of "Mr. Blue Sky" the same as the one on the sunfly disc? I've never heard the Sunfly arrangement and am pretty sure they are the only company that has produced "Mr. Blue Sky"

Here's a song that needs to be available on karaoke. Dan Fogelberg's THE LEADER OF THE BAND. Background vocals need to be down though. Pocket Songs version is horrible! The Backgrounds drown the singer out. If the guy who mixed that version ever applies at Sound Choice, DON'T HIRE HIM!!!

Now, about "Gimme Shelter"...

Why "Aqualung" isn't SC'd is a mystery to me. I guess it must be licensing and/or Ian issues. Posts: 789 | From: Audubon, Pa. | Registered: Jan 2000

Aside from "Aqualung", it would seem fitting for a few other similar Tull tunes to be released by SC on an ASAP basis as well. In particular, "Cross-Eyed Mary", "Hymn 43", "Wind-Up", and "My God", etc. In terms of Ian Anderson and licensing issues, you may have a good point, however it appears to me that since I've found a certain amount of JT material available from certain other CDG manufacturers, and a couple of selections presently on SC CDGs ("Locomotive Breath" and "Bungle In The Jungle", I believe, if memory serves....), it seems that maybe the licensing roadblocks may not be insurmountable....but I guess that's one for the SC Admin folks to deal with at some point. In the meantime, I guess I'll just keep on beating the drum and carrying the flag, or torch, or whatever, as future opportunities emerge! Thanks for the vote of confidence for "Aqualung" ... my friend!

As for Jethro Tull, Aqualung may be a little too heavy and long for some folks, probably have a better chance at getting either Teacher, Too Old For Rock 'n' Roll, Too Young To Die, Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of A New Day, or even the single version of Thick As A Brick.
