Since I started karaoke a year and a half ago, I promised myself that come Halloween time, I would only sing King Diamond songs at karaoke, as he is who I dress as every year (well usually just the makeup).
I mean, dressed up as King Diamond and singing "Barbie Girl" just doesn't work.

Up til now, I have improvised by singing over the actual CDs, but now, Karaoke World has passed an official policy against the use of non-CDGs at karaoke shows.

I can understand their reasoning behind it, but now I realise favorite my annual tradition will be hooped!

I am submitting a list of King Diamond (who also releases material under Mercyful Fate) songs that have so far proven to be Halloween faves at karaoke, or are just tunes that promise entertainment;

01. Gypsy (MF)
02. Come To The Sabbath (MF)

04. A Dangerous Meeting (MF)
05. The Candle (KD)

07. Halloween (KD)
08. No Presents For Christmas (KD) -why stop at Halloween festivities?
09. Funeral/The 7th Day Of July, 1777 (KD)

Okay, you're new, so there's a little levity here. . .
but get real, will you?

King Diamond isn't really anybody special in the pop/rock world, much beyond a couple of songs anyway. They don't even warrant an 8 song Star disc, let alone a 15 song Spotlight, and you list 51 songs ?

Look, just cos maybe YOU don't like King Diamond enough (or at all) to see his stuff on karaoke, doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be.
I mean, really, have you seen some of the stuff that makes it on karaoke? Obscure or mainstream, if it is requested, then it is worth consideration. I don't care what or who it is.

The reason I listed so many songs, was simply to allow Sound Choice to select a small handful (like 5 songs?), maybe to use as fillers on mixed CDGs just to see how they go over.

If all goes well, perhaps a couple of KD/MF discs will become available in a couple years.

Furthermore, Mr. My-****-Don't-Stink, I have read many of your replies and opinions to other posts and threads in this site, and you are obviously a pompous moron who is under the delusion that your opinion really matters to anyone.

I will thank you to keep your negative and opinionated comments to yourself.

Okay dufus, you want to take the gloves off, that's fine.

If you had taken the time to do any research at all before shooting your ignorant pie-hole off, you'd have found that King Diamond has been requested before. . .
AND. SHOT. DOWN.

As I said, there was a little levity in my post, but since you don't understand English, I'll explain what levity is.
Levity, is a light-hearted quip. My post was to be taken with a grain of salt, but you decided to swallow the shaker and all, which is not my problem.

Of course, I'll be happy to watch disc after disc get created and watch you whine why about King Diamond is never included on any of them.

P.S.- if all you do every year on Halloween is sing King Diamond, then maybe you should try something else.
If you aren't smart enough or creative enough to come up with a different costume, then perhaps you should try a different venue than Karaoke World.

Have a nice day.

Dude, I was all ready to help support your cause for some Diamond and Fate until you started mouthing off to l'op. You don't know who you're messing with here. His opinion DOES matter to me.

I'm actually one of a few people who tried requesting this stuff in the past. And yes, it was shot down.

I agree with *some* of the songs you listed, as I used to be a HUGE King Diamond/Mercyful Fate fan. I agree that there's lots of obscure stuff available. But we can't even get more than a couple Iron Maiden songs done! We would be VERY lucky to see even one KD/MF song released on karaoke in the next two years!

P.S. How could you make a list that long and not include "Charon?"

Ok, l'opera....

So King has been requested and shot down, huh?

Excuse me for not reading every single post in this site. Whether it was requested prior or not, I am a karaoke-ist, and I would like to see some of my favorite stuff available for it. Just like anyone else.

So the fact King has been 'shot down' means that means I should just roll over and quit?

Nah... I don't think so.

I admit, some of his Mercyful Fate stuff may not be appropriate for karaoke, what with all the references to Satan and whatnot (though I made sure the songs I suggested are a bit more neutral on that subject).
However, his solo stuff is more like Stephen King set to music. Nothing wrong with it. In fact, given the chance, it might actually be received better than anyone gives it credit for.

Until a King song is actually released, and the feedback is assessed, King's music should not be condemned unworthy of karaoke.

Granted, for most people, King is an accquired taste. I realise he won't be accepted overnight.

Any King fans out there, back me up on this and submit your requests.

And the fact I enjoy performing King Diamond each Halloween, doesn't mean I lack any imagination, it means I do what I like, not what others think I should do.

Furthermore, King is more appropriate for Halloween than any other time of the year, more than any other artist (outside of Alice Cooper). And as I said, he is an accquired taste- not many people can tolerate the high-pitched shrieking vocals, or keep up with the erratic time changes in the music. So I figure one night out of the year to reserve for only King Diamond songs is no big deal.

So, I re-submit my request to Sound Choice, that in the event of another Halloween-themed CDG, select a couple of songs from my list of 50+, and throw them on. I have noted the best choices as 'a must', for their musical consistency, suitable running time, and/or moderate vocal range.

Thanks to Sound Choice for their considerations,
and apologies to l'opera for my hypersensitivity to your critique.

Yes, I realise I retaliated a bit prematurely against l'opera... and I have apologised.

I realise this is no excuse, but I have been attacked in other BB sites for less than this, and I guess I had a flashback, and (over)reacted?

Anyway, I am just trying to push my hardest for King BECAUSE I realise how hard it will be to ever see him on karaoke. So I am not holding back. I am submitting every song I can think of, in hopes somebody somewhere will see it and go, 'yeah, that's a good tune, I second it'.

And I don't know how I overlooked "Charon"... I knew I was leaving something out.... my bad.

You forgot "Welcome Home" too. And there was a video for that one!

Okay, if I HAVE to back you up, I'm picking ONE song... "Halloween." It's got the suitable running time, consistent verses, and it's got the "theme." If they can release a Pantera song, this would be the next step in that direction.

But still, I'm not holding my breath.....

Welcome Home? Check song #16.

Yeah, "Halloween" was one of the songs that the crowd liked, for the very reasons you mentioned.

And you don't HAVE to back me... but I appreciate it all the same

You might have a better change asking for some Metallica from the Garage Inc., CD - Mercyful Fate - Featuring Evil, Curse of the Pharaohs, Satan's Fall, A Corpse, Without Soul and Into The Coven. Might be too long though, or posible edit of some of the songs.

Yes... I agree, if it weren't for the long running time, that would be a good starting point to at least help get King's foot in the door, by utilizing the popularity of Metallica's name... does that make sense? I am replying this now having only just woken up...

CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!? (sob)

Well, it looks like the conversation's gotten a bit more civil, so that's nice.

Don't worry, though, Wasp... I got yelled at for asking for more Alan Parsons! (Oh, and I asked them why they messed up on some of the lyrics they put on screen... that probably didn't help. lol)

Anyway, this group sounds kinda neat. I'll have to check them out!

@ Kryten!

Yeah, no doubt eh? It sucks when there's conflict in these things, but, like you said, things have gotten a little more civil.

I'm surprised you did not use the group hug smilie!

Anyhow, I like a little Alan Parsons Project myself... even though the only songs I am familiar with are "Eye In The Sky" and "Don't Answer Me" (and not so much with the latter).

Yeah, I noticed on a few songs things get changed around, like a lyric here, a musical passage there. I understand it has to do with copyrights, but I don't know for sure.

I don't personally mind so much if a lyric is changed, but it kinda throws me when the arrangement is altered. Don't care much for that.

As for KD/MF, yes, do check them out. They do have a compilation under both names (King Diamond & Mercyful Fate) called "A Dangerous Meeting". If you've never heard these guys before, this would be a suitable album to whet your chops on.

Oh well, here I go again, rambling on...

I'll shut up now.

Welcome aboard WASP.

I see you met Tim (aka L'op )...

I too have run afoul of THE MAN.

You have to understand that being defensive right from the getgo will only bring you hardship... not just on another bboard, but in everything you do. Try to remember that WE didn't harrass you on other sites (at least I don't think any of us did! LOL!).

Welcome aboard, and I look forward to more of your SHORTER requests!

Lord knows "I" have had problems with long, rambling posts...

That's L'op's personal icon!! It was created by Pony from "Dog and Pony" cause he is (or used to be) majorly into the Theater. He's branched himself off and isn't so much into the Broadway stuff. Now, he's into just about everything! He's got a lot of good opinions about my favorite band, Queensryche.

In fact, I think he beat me to getting the "Queensryche VS Rush" CDG.

Diane created my icon, but Pony's the Goddess! She's created most everyone's emoticon's in here.

Anyway, when Diane and Pony began to create personal icons for people, Rodney was kind enough to upload the icons the same way that the normal emoticons are there. Many are based on their personalities or in my case, cause I'm bald, and always grinnin'! Anyway, Rodney's a peach, and we sure have had fun with these. Check out the thread under Karaoke Online Forumn New Emoticons Needed for more details.

Anyway, since you're such a metal nut, figured you'd like Pony's icon for us metal freaks!

Matt *who did too much this past Wednesday!! Whooo*

I LOVE THOSE!!! They SO rock!!! And yes, I do like the little metalhead smilie!!

There's nothing like the little things like that to promote individuality and one's uniqueness.

Again, those kick a**!!
(Hey, now there's one... have a smilie kicking another smilie in the butt? Just a thought...)

Say, knightshow, I tried following those links to see how to put in a request to have a personalised emoticon made for me, but I can't seem to find any place/link to submit my idea.

I probably missed something so blatantly obvious somewhere.... forgive me, and help me out?

Whoops!! I just noticed that my little inquiry to the emoticons has led this thread astray from the intended topic: Requests King Diamond & Mercyful Fate on CDG.

Okay... now that that has been set back on track....
