Okay, how about some of the most unlikely songs for karaoke? My votes...

The Life Of Brian (Monty Python)
The Meaning Of Life (Monty Python)
Knights Of The Round Table (Monty Python)

(Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life and The Galaxy Song ARE available. I know. I have them. lol)

Headline News (Weird Al)
BlackAdder (from the BBC show)
South Park Theme
Red Dwarf End Title
Shock Treatment (The sequel to Rocky Horror)
Blazing Saddles Theme

Is 'Rock Me Amadeus' available? I'll have to check.

Any other strange and unusual songs anyone can think of? I'd say... don't hold back and knock yourselves out. lol

Andrew

Kinda funny that you mention the theme to "Blazing Saddles"...we were just discussing at my favorite club about trying to get "I'm Tired" put on karaoke! Mel Brooks had some good stuff out there before "The Producers", and there could be a viable disc in them!

"Men In Tights"
"Springtime for Hitler"
"I'm Tired"
"Blazing Saddles"
"The French Mistake" (just kidding 'bout this one...)
"The Inquisition"
Perhaps some others?...

"knock yourselves out"? Pony? Diane? You got an emoticon with stars circling 'round its head?

I'm with you Andrew!! I would love to see the entire "Monty Python Sings" CD done on Karaoke, every song in their lineup!! Not Sure about all the others on your list as I'm not familiar with all of them but I would love to have "the Ballad of Irving" and Dead Puppies on karaoke as well.

RC and Rich... I agree with you both completely!

I'd like to add, though:

Strange Brew (the title track from 'The Adventures Of Bob And Doug McKenzie'), and

GoodLove6-9969 (from the South Park Soundtrack Album - I have the feeling that 'Uncle you-know-what' won't be made in to karaoke. lol)

Does Pocket Songs do Gilbert and Sullivan? I'll have to check - a lot of good songs there.

Dumb Things (from the 'Young Einstien' soundtrack)

How about an entire two disc set of Pink Floyd's 'The Wall'?

BBC (from 'Austin Powers')

I'll have to think about some others.

Andrew

Hey, R.C.!

Where IS your favorite club now? I haven't seen you around since Song Yen's (I heard you had a brief stint at that tiny little place up the street, what was it, Straight Shots?)

(Or do I have the wrong R.C.?)

I like your suggestions.
Don't forget that SC made "The Lumberjack Song" (which I keep meaning to do). But some of your titles I don't agree with.
Headline News (Weird Al) -love "Weird Al" but that song is pretty dated now.
Rock Me Amadeus - I would like it, but I guess you would put the English words up on the screen and sing the German if you knew how.

The Inquistion and Ballad of Irving makes fun of the Jewish folk, I'm not sure if you could put those out. I would really like to do Ballad of Irving epecially.
Has anyone heard "The Ballad of Gumby"?
Thanks!

How about the William Shatner version of "Mr. Tambourine Man"?

OK, maybe not!

Ouch, Mark that would be painful!

But, if they did it, they would have to include Nimoy singing something too. I remember he put an album out in the late 60's / early 70's. Heck while they are at it, they can include that God-awful song Nichelle Nichols sang in ST V.

Somebody stop me please! LOL

Oh as to the topic at hand, I agree that Headline News by Al is a bit dated, but I am jonesing for anymore Al to sing so even if it got produced, I would have to get it!

The difference between Shatner's singing and Nimoy's singing...

Shatner had the good sense to quit after that godawful album. Nimoy made SIX albums of his murdering pop songs.

What did Joni Mitchell and Randy Newman do wrong that Nimoy felt the need to slaughter their songs (among other performers' songs)?

Best,

Mark

If you can believe this, Shatner claims that he purposely sings that way. Uh-huh, riiight Bill. We believe ya.

Krytensings...have you HEARD Kryten sing??? Hmmm

I'll second from your lists though :-

Blackadder theme (any of them!)
Red Dwaf theme
South Park Theme
any & all Python

How about any Goons songs...have you ever heard any?? I'm walking Backwards for Christmas & The Ying Tong Song are the two obvious ones & Peter Sellers has had several others including Slipped Discs & the classic Hard Day's Night.
Maybe a TV/Film comedy disc could be produced...you could add the themes from Cheers, Friends & MASH, & Sweet Georgia Brown successfully produced a South Park disc, without actually using too many songs from the show.

I heard a song once that I've been looking for for a long time (but I don't know who does it). I think it'd be a GREAT Silly song.

'Drop Kick Me, Jesus, Through The Goal Posts Of Life'

As I said, I don't know who does it, and I haven't heard it since I was maybe 14 (last year..... okay 25 years ago, if you must know! lol) but I can still hear the chorus in my head!

Andrew, it's by Bobby Bare and it's on a country disc in the 8600s.

I requested it, it came out, I sang it, and it's freakin' GREAT! I always thought Bobby Bare was cool.

Best,

Mark
