frank--good choice!!! i have it on a cheaper brand.i did not realize jay and the americans did it. i wish they did more "fasrer" songs than ballads.
mark speck-do you remember a song that was semi-popular than went: i'm the man, i'm the medicine man...my baby needs some action, my baby needs some satisfaction....i get the notion, need some lotion, put your faith in me...?" it was on the radio station in st.louis in the 67-71 period. i had the single then and both sides had the same song. i think it was called "medine man" but am not for sure. did you know the group's name?? this would be a great karaoke song, if people know it.

I have that song in my CD collection. Terry Cashman, Gene Pistilli & Tommy West (later to become Cashman, Pistilli, and West, recorded a #27 hit "Medicine Man", under the name The Buchanan Brothers in Summer of 1969) It is song #2 on "Cashman and West - AM-FM Blues (Their Very Best)" album
"MEDICINE MAN" - The Buchanan Brothers

It should be noted that while Cashman and West made some great music as artists, that their biggest success came from guiding and producing a childhood friend of theirs, Jim Croce.
As for Gene Pistilli, he formed the Manhattan Transfer upon parting with Cashman and West.
Best,
Mark

I'll cast my vote for ANY Elton John '70's songs.

I really like Elton John's older honky-tonk style from the 70's as opposed to the syruppy ballads he later did, so if a spotlight is done, I hope some of the songs I listed are included--they are good tunes with alot of energy.

Maybe a better idea would be to combine a Billy Joel/Elton John disc.

I'd like to see Billy Joel and Elton John on volume 3 spotlights, but to expect either disk to be all 60s/70s (the only 60s one I can think of for EJ is Lady Samantha, recorde by Three Dog Night) is really pushing it. Either spotlight would have to contain mostly hit songs from their respective careers to make sales (no, don't do a combined spolight!).
Probably a totally 70s Elton John disk that started with half the songs from the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album and added in some of the best of the rest of his 70's recordings (without repeating what's already covered) might be attractive.
We should probably start a BJ/EJ thread on these two as there've been some phenominal songs from both careers.

Oh well, I'd still like to see "MY DAD" by Paul Petersen combined on a "Songs for Dad". You could make it a compilation or two disc set with "Songs for Mom". Just my two cents.

I'm at the point where suggesting songs on this forum is like arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Vanilla Fudge anyone? "Take me for a little while". Although "You keep me hanging on" has been out on a defunct label (Damn good background, but way too short), SC should put out both.

Rod Stewart's version of "Standing In The Shadows Of Love" or "Ain't Love A Bitch"
Anthing off the Kinks' "Low Budget" album; but especially "A Gallon Of Gas"
Tom Petty's "Listen To Her Heart"
J. Geils Band "One Last Kiss", "Teresa", "Sanctuary" or "Surrender"
And is there any update on Dylan's "Changing Of The Guard" or "You Gotta Serve Somebody" I remember BC saying that they were either working or seriously considering these two songs.

While these two are discontinued from the only two labels that had them, and I missed them, I'd like to hear SC do them up!
BOOM BOOM...The Animals SHE'S ABOUT A MOVER...Sir Douglas Quintet (Quartet?)

Seconds on Vanilla Fudge (once again, I ask, can we POSSIBLY get the ALBUM version of "You Keep Me Hangin' On"?), the Dylan tunes, Sir Douglas Quintet, "Listen to Her Heart", the Geils tunes and Kinks stuff.
Best,
Mark
