"How Will I Laugh Tomorrow" is a good one, you've got my vote.
And there really should be at least one good, rockin' Anthrax song on a HB disc (not a rap song). I'd suggest Indians, I Am The Law, Armed And Dangerous, or Antisocial.

Not being a big Antrax fan, I have seen them a few times though, I think the one song that stands out for them is One More. It is one of the songs I am familiar with by radio and such and might be a good karaoke song.

Please consider "Children Of The Grave" and "Into The Void" by Black Sabbath...or, how about "I Don't Know" and/or "Revelation (Mother Earth)" by Ozzy Osbourne? More Tony Iommi and Randy Rhoads style guitar work would be just so damned nice! The guitarists utilized by SC are very good at replicating the aforestated styles....along with many others which, in my opinion, are also given superior representation and treatment in the studio!

Does anyone remember "Love To Love" and "Try Me" by UFO? Those were powerful ballads, although the guitar solos may need to become abridged somewhat in order to produce renditions more suited for karaoke performance. These are way cool to sing due to the inherent emotion exuded in lyrics and through vocal delivery. It would be nice to wake-up one day and find one or both on a karaoke CDG.

In terms of "CULT" selections, I applaud your choice of "Sun King"....along these lines, how do you feel about "American Horse", "Edie (Ciao Baby)", "Fire Woman", and "Sweet Soul Sister"??? These Cult classics, along with "Sun King" have always hit home hard with me....it's good to see a fellow Cult enthusiast out there!
Speaking of "Cult", what about "Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll" by Blue Oyster Cult? I've never seen that on any karaoke CDG by any manufacturer. I think a lot of karaoke rockers would have fun belting-out that one onstage...er, at least I would!!!
I like your selections K.W.O. - - you have obviously given the topic a lot of thought and it shows in the list you have presented.

I totally agree on this. The guitarists and musicians that Sound Choice picks to duplicate this material (Sabbath, Ozzy, Dio) definitely know their stuff quite well!

I could have sworn "Fire Woman" by the Cult was already released. Was it taken out of print, or am I imagining things?
Rockhawk: Good picks! I'm a hard rocker myself. Unfortunately, "Into The Void" is probably a really long shot for karaoke. I assume you've got the Black Sabbath "Last Supper" DVD? "Into The Void" is on there, along with a lot of great songs.
A Sabbath song I'd really like to have on karaoke is "Children Of The Sea" from the Dio era. And for The Cult, I think we're long overdue for "Love Removal Machine." It's right up SC's alley!
Sometimes when stuff doesn't appear on the listing from soundchoice.com, it could be merely out of stock at the moment.
I once made the assumption that if it wasn't listed, then the disc was discontinued. BC corrected me on that. LOL! Won't make THAT mistake again!
Here's hoping they didn't pull it due to licensing issues... but you still should be able to find it from an online retailer somewhere! doowop.com still has it, but karaoke.com doesn't! It's interesting to point out that when I did a search for CURE under artists there, Fire Woman didn't show up... but "Love Song" did... go figure!

On the power ballads thread, I've requested Love To Love by UFO, but on a HB disc, probably Rock Bottom, Lights Out, or (the big hit) Only You Can Rock Me. (For ballads, I would also include Cherry)
As for Sabbath, so many great songs to chose from, I requested Children Of The Grave before, and Changes has also been suggested, either would make an excellent Ozzy era choice. As for Dio, Chidren Of The Sea is a great choice, but so is Neon Knights and Heaven And Hell.
I would also love to see Trashed from the Ian Gillian era.
As for the other singers in Sabbath and their songs, No Stranger To Love, Anno Mundi, or Fallen Angels.
Could there be a chance at a Sabbath/Ozzy/Dio disc or perhaps a disc with Sabbath, Ozzy, Dio, Rainbow and Deep Purple

As long as there's a few new songs on there, I'd buy it in two seconds!
Matt, thanks for the link, it's interesting. I've got a feeling that disc may have gone out of print. I knew I had seen Fire Woman in the database before!
I guess I am hoping that since SC has previously released such tracks as "Sweet Leaf" and "N.I.B." on Spotlight/Headbanger CDG's, then it might follow that anything is possible along those lines. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a miracle! Thanks for responding. It would appear that our musical tastes are very similar. I look forward to comparing notes with you further on this topic and related topics as they emerge on this forum.

Right freakin' on, brother! All those Sabbath tunes truly rock! Those you mentioned from the RJ Dio era have also been long-term faves for me also...hell yeah, "Heaven & Hell" for sure! That stuff you mentioned from the Gillan era, Glenn Hughes era, and Tony Martin era all rate highly with me as well. Remember "Glory Ride" and stuff like that from the "Eternal Idol" album? Great worj from veteran HM rockers!
What a grand idea you came-up with for a compilation CDG including Sabbath, Ozzy solo, Dio, Rainbow, and Deep Purple. "Man On The Silver Mountain", "Stone Cold", "Power", and "Can't Let You Go" by Rainbow would also be good Spotlight CDG inclusions.....nice challenge for the vocal chords! What about "Sign Of The Southern Cross", by Sabbath (Dio era)? Bottom line, I'm right there with you, brother..Rock-on!

I would DEFINITELY buy this compilation! I've requested numerous Sabbath, Dio, Ozzy, and Rainbow tunes in the past and also some from just about every singer Black Sabbath ever had, including Ian Gillan and Tony Martin. I'd like to see "Headless Cross" or "Zero The Hero." I know it may be a longshot, but it's worth the request anyhow. I'm still pushing for Rainbow's, "Man on the Silver Mountain."

Yeah, and it will be April til we see the HB disc. Still waiting for clues....
And as for Man On The Silver Mountain (call me old), but I pefer and remember the studio version over the live, but either would be a welcome addition.
Still, SC has been kind and has put out on couple last HB tunes, either a Sabbath, Ozzy, or Dio tune and on one disc all three.

Along the lines of something approaching the "one-hit-wonder" HR/HM category, a couple of pretty cool '80s songs just came to mind and it got me to thinkin' hey, now how cool would it be if they were some day to become available on CDG.....one of these songs was something like "Into The Night", or a title somewhat like that, by The Sherbs, and another was a song titled "The Runaround" by Tsunami. Anybody remember or even care about those tunes! They weren't great, but I thought they were pretty damned cool just the same....and probably fun to sing in a karaoke setting. I know I used to sing them both while listening to my car stereo, and that was kinda fun at the time!
In terms of unlikelyand/or bizarre song requests, I guess I'll enter the previously mentioned little ditties!!!

Oh, my, my....I almost forgot....what about some of the heavier Jethro Tull tunes, like "Aqualung" especially, and also "Cross-Eyed Mary", "My God", Hymn 43", "Wind-Up", so forth, and so on? I could see those going over pretty well at karaoke shows frequented by classic rock clientele! Anybody with me on this, or am I all wet or what??? Classic Rock fans, what say you?
By the way, does anybody remember the actual title of that song by The Sherbs which I mentioned earlier? Somehow I've misplaced that album and my not remembering the title is starting to bug me a bit here and there! If anybody out there can find it in their heart to take pity on my little twisted and wretched rock 'n' roll soul in such fashion as to let me know the title of that damned Sherbs song, well let's just say I would be relieved and grateful to have that information at my disposal again! Okay, I am gonna shut-up now! I love all you fine folks out there, so please be gentle!!!

I would love to see "Cross-Eyed Mary," but it would probably end up on a classic rock disk instead of an HB.

quote:Originally posted by Steve D.: I was trying to remember some of the songs I have requested over the last 3 years here on Sound Choice and once I went through the list, SC has fulfilled a good amount of them, actually more than I expected they would ever hit in a long time.
I thought I'd bring up a few others that I could remember from my list that maybe could be touched on in the future. Here we go:
DIO: 1. Don't Talk To Strangers 2. We Rock 3. Rock 'N' Roll Children 4. Sacred Heart 5. Dream Evil
DIO (with Black Sabbath): 1. Neon Knights 2. Children of the Sea 3. Heaven and Hell 4. Time Machine (from Wayne's World Soundtrack) 5. Voodoo
DIO (with Rainbow): 1. Man on the Silver Mountain 2. Catch The Rainbow 3. Long Live Rock 'N' Roll
DOKKEN: 1. Kiss of Death 2. Tooth and Nail 3. Just Got Lucky 4. It's Not Love 5. The Hunter
W.A.S.P.: 1. Wild Child 2. Headless Children (a good one for a Halloween disk) 3. Forever Free 4. Blind in Texas 5. L.O.V.E. Machine
JUDAS PRIEST: 1. Turbo Lover 2. A Touch of Evil 3. Night Crawler 4. Victim of Changes 5. The Ripper 6. Desert Plains 7. Freewheel Burning
OZZY OSBOURNE: 1. Believer 2. I Don't Know 3. Suicide Solution 4. The Ultimate Sin 5. Lightning Strikes 6. You Can't Kill Rock and Roll 7. Miracle Man 8. Breaking All The Rules 9. Crazy Babies 10. Perry Mason
OZZY OSBOURNE (with Black Sabbath): 1. Children of the Grave 2. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath 3. Black Sabbath (another good one for a Halloween disk) 4. Electric Funeral 5. The Wizard 6. Snowblind 7. Symptom of the Universe 8. Tomorrow's Dream
BLACK SABBATH (other singers): 1. Zero The Hero 2. Headless Cross 3. I Witness 4. Trashed
I think that would round it out for a little while. Anyone care to add to the list, feel free. As always, SC HEADBANGER SERIES KICKS ASS!
Sorry to include the WHOLE quote, but I figger it's easier to glance at it here rather than go back to the original post to see what I am referring to...
With that said, I would like commend this gentleman on his FINE choices... and I would like to suggest a few in addition to it all;
From the W.A.S.P. list, I would suggest pretty much anything released after 1989, seeing as a lot of the primary important stuff prior to that year has been mentioned.. I might only add "Animal (F**k Like A Beast)".. I mean come on, NIN's "Closer" made it, so why not that one?
So yeah.. titles from W.A.S.P. after '89 might include "Maneater", "Mean Man", "Raven Heart", "Loco-Motive Man", "Hold On To My Heart", "Chainsaw Charlie (Murders In The New Morgue)" (I won't hold my breath on that one, LOL), "Black Forever", "Still Not Black Enough", "Breathe", "Keep Holding On" (these latter 2 being beautiful ballads, they SHOULD make it)... but the list goes on... (By the way, Steve, I dunno about Headless Children being so good for Halloween.. it has the sound, but lyrically, it's more a social issues tune... just my humble opinion.. sorry)
As for the other artists/selections that Steve mentioned, I could not have picked them better myself, except perhaps I would like to add Judas Priest's "Love Bites", as it would not only fit with a "Heavy Metal Love" theme, but also a Halloween or Vampire theme... At any rate, Steve KNOWS the good stuff! Rock on my friend! : )
In closing, I would like to suggest some titles for the aforementioned "Heavy Metal Love" concept:
Helix - "Heavy Metal Love" Quiet Riot - "Love's A Bitch" Scorpions - "Believe In Love" / "Rhythm Of Love" W.A.S.P. - "Wicked Love" Type O Negative - "Love You To Death" Iron Maiden - "Wasting Love" Def Leppard - "Love & Affection" / "Love Bites" Ratt - "Lovin You Is A Dirty Job"
*whew*.. ok, well, it's plain to see there is no shortage of potential material.. so I will shut up now... thank you for your indulgence...

LMAO!! I don't mean to laugh, but that rivalry takes me back to the days when I compiled a tape of songs form those two bands, alternating back and forth (Metallica song, Megadeth song, Metallica, Megadeth, etc), and the name I gave it was a morphing of the two names, which was "MegaMetallDethIca"(Meg-uh-meh-TAL-deth-eh-ka)... so, I would like to submit that silly name as a potential title for any discs that feature Metallica vs Megadeth...

As if y'all aint heard enough from me as it is.. but I would like to suggest a track form the easily overlooked of the metal scene - metal's ladies... like Lee Aaron for example... "Metal Queen" is a kick ass tune that warrants serious consideration... at least I think so... anyhoo... til next time..

WT WASP, nice solid list. Love em all. I'd pick every SC disc that had any/all those cuts.
You guys see the new disc coming out 2/6/03, got Caught in a moss from Anthrax, solid, about time a Anthrax song that is not one of the rap ones. Of course I have that disc anyway.
