Nothing imminent. The sales momentum for the series is lessening - likely due to the release of the current songs in this genre on our Powerpicks - and the number of people requesting these songs has dropped also.
What might work for any future releases of the Hard Rock Hits series would be to compile some of the bigger songs that we missed the first few times around with more recent releases (like the selection concept for the Can't Stop the Hip-Hop discs.)

- "The sales momentum for the series is lessening..." -"...the number of people requesting these songs has dropped also."
Based on those facts, there isn't much financial sense in hurrying up to spend money on something that doesn't sell that well.
However, the Powerpicks that are comprised of those style songs are doing quite well.
A logical thought process tells you that there is no rush to come out with another Star disc. We'll make Volume 4 when we think we have enough solid song choices that will make for a good disc (which is what we thought Volume 3 was), and/or there is enough demand in the marketplace.

Well half of the Vol. 3 is good the other half ???. It's the genre I listen to most. I barely know Kitty who I think sucks. Never heard of Drain Sth sounds pretty good on the vocal sample - I might really like this band. Sevendust who I'd never heard of before - since I have heard one song and it's on a Power Pick.
I am in two different areas during the week, that have play different things - Sacramento has harder stuff played than San Jose in general. I bought my house in Sacramento based partly upon the radio stations there. I also travel between where there are other stations, so I should have a wide base albet in California. Shouldn't the songs get a reasonable amount of airplay?
The songs chosen for the Hard Rock Power Picks have been better than Stars so far.
I am really wondering what BC means about -"...the number of people requesting these songs has dropped also." Since we have already requested them and he does not seem to like having the same songs requested over. I don't like to sound like a broken record either. What more are we suppose to say. Most of the really good songs are already posted. I feel almost like this thread has been closed - It needs new blood, I would think having a new topic of similar interest. Just because a thread has been bled dry does not mean the subject has.
And we should we continue on something that already was suppose to be in progress, we just hadden't seen the listing yet?
Female of the Species - Space has not been requested that I recall, so that's a new one to consider. And I am really hoping to "sing" Linkin Park's The End, I might not get the chance even if it does come out - since I would need it as a duet.

I never been much of a karoake person but a freind of mine took me, and they had hard rock hits vol.3 and i loved it. Please don't stop making these disc, they are great and i seen alot of people singing these songs and really getting into them. Please put out more disc with bands like these. Spineshank, Taproot, Sevendust, Staind, Slipknot, Coal Chamber, Linkin Park, Korn, Finger Eleven, and Deftones. Posts: 1 | From: Fresno,Ca. USA | Registered: Feb 2001

Interesting on Linkin Park given they have two lead singers: Mike Shinoda - vocals, Chester Bennington - vocals, with Rob Bourdon - background vocals, Brad Delson - background vocals. The Rap parts are one and the hard rock parts are the other - from my understanding that's their gimmick {Hybrid Theory}. And if you ever see their videos one can see them alternating. Besides it would take a lot of sampling to have that sort of overlap, without them being duets. Also if one is trying to recreate them if, one needs to have a "background singer" doing main lines all the way through it should be clear. As far a technically, the overlaps might be hard to do the graphics for, which is a reasonable consideration.
I am however quite pleased to have the Hard Rock Songs I do have.
Spinshank/ Synthetic Slipknot/ Wait and Bleed Sevendust/ My Ruin Staind/ Home HEDpe/ Killing Time Taproot/ Again and Again Deftones/ My Own Summer or 7 words Korn/ Blind Coal Chamber/ Shock the Monkey Linkin Park/ Without you Type-o-Negative/Christian Woman White Zombie/Thunderkiss 65 N.I.N/ Were in this together

A Perfect Circle "Three Libres" Spineshank "New Disese" Kid Rock "I Am The Bull God" Korn "Blind" Limp Bizkit "Counterfeit"
BC, I agree with you that Hard Rock Hits should evolve into a retroactive of past hits that you missed. Earlier Korn or Limp Bizkit, even Kid Rock's first single "I Am the Bullgod" would be great. Plus, the competition has not put these out. Older hits would drive the sales. Newer releases should be reserved for PowerPicks. Now the question is...keep it a Star disc, or go with Spotlight?
