No I don't think anyone owes him an apology. I've been here for what 4 years and I've seen my fair share of stuff and been apart of my fair share of stuff, but this, well this, this has been just the biggest fishing expedition I have seen in a long time.
I mean the more posts I read, the more I think, this guy can't be that dumb. Yet the next day I see more and more of it. I will tell you this, I've been KJing for about as long as I have been a member here, and a lot of the tact I use with my customers came from reading posts from veterans, like knightshow, dog & pony, lonman, RC, Harryoke, tjmat, and many other people. By talking to other singers, like Mark, Dan, David, Stan, and a few others I got a good perspective from both sides to help me mold my company to what it is today.
Nobody told him not to do what he believes in, some hosts don't like anything over 6 minutes in song length in their book cause their shows are way too busy, do I agree with that no, but those hosts don't get uppity about the issue being brought up.
We feel that this is a community in whole. We learn from each other. So when Gem gets an attitude with almost half of his posting about how this is his way and so on, we here as a community feel that it is our duty to show him the way we do things more or less at our shows. Though I doubt you will find anyone actually admitting that they don't bend over backwards for their singers.
We feel that they are the life blood, and whatever we can do to make them happy we try to do. Be it playing a disc they bring in, to having a diverse selection of tunes for them to pick thru. I probably have one of the smaller collections in here compared to my cohorts, but I'm so selective of my discs I seem to have weeded out a lot of stuff that would just be considered fluff and not sustenance. And all of us add new music from the monthlies, cause we know that everyone wants to sing what's hot now.
We take pride in our shows, and in the fact that we love karaoke so much that we have joined or are a part of organizations. We all want karaoke taken seriously, and that starts with IMO giving your customers almost everything they want, until it becomes unreasonable, or just not fathomable.

I have attend several teaching seminars held by Gemini Karaoke and he does know what is talking about...15yrs DJ/KJ he is a veteran. He has alway stressed the importance of the singers need but also not to be ran over. I also believe there is a fine line....Im sorry you dont know him personally and I do and he has alot to offer the karaoke community...just because he doesnt agree with you doesnt make him wrong...it makes him independent. So before you go running him down ..remember one thing he is very well respected in the salina community and his show ARE THE BEST!!!!

C'mon guys be nice. You have to agree that he has been entertaining, if not enlighting, afterall all he has almost 5,000 songs.
I guess that some of us here have almost as many years as he does and our small libraries (we only have 20,200 plus with about 14-15,000 non-repeats) and we don't have the vast knowledge as ONE on this board has. And don't forget the crappy equipment we all have and the small 25-40 ppl rotations.

But most of us would rather read 12 quality posts vs about 247 posts full of crap. But you are entertaining.

I agree with Timberlea, and while I could just as easily hit "Submit Reply" at this point I have to say just because you pass the "20 posts" and the moniker of "junior member" is lifted from under your screen name does not signify some sort of "graduation". Especially in your case. Regardless of how many postings you have here you may always be looked at by many here as a "junior member". It may be a sad fact, but one which you have created all by yourself.

Not a matter of how many posts. I joined this forum in 2001. You seem to forget that you yourself only "recently" started posting & 95% of your posts are targeted at starting arguments. I seem to recall when YOU YOURSELF only had 21 posts & people were jumping on you in the same manner. You would have figured you would have learned, but someone with such a small mind can't figure out that that kind of stuff don't fly here. If the number of posts mean something to you, i'll just respond to EVERYTHING you write so they will grow for you and become large in number since that's what you feel makes a member more worthwhile. Oh, wait, more posts haven't grown YOUR status at all except to prove that you are a worthless part of this board since you only argue every point or try & tell everyone the way karaoke should be done (your way or the highway) & have absolutely nothing useful to contribute!

That I do agree, you have, IF ANYTHING, made it interesting. It is funny to think someone that is LOL"NUMBER 1"LOL would have the limited mentality you exhibit here.

Yeah, I guess he can run his show the way he sees fit, but I, for one probably wouldn't go to his show a second time. I never bring my discs to a venue the first time I go. I give the KJ the benefit of the doubt, see his/her collection and get a feel of the place. Every KJ cannot get every CD+G out there, and there are songs I like that certain KJ's won't get, even if they work two jobs, i.e., KJ and K-Mart (p.s., we don't need the announcements of what's coming out on CD, because we can use the internet and find out what's coming out). So, with the I won't play other peoples' discs program, I more than likely would not return.
As to being the best, I seriously doubt it. Just hearing it from himself and a friend, just doesn't cut it. Now, if a KJ wins a contest say from Karaoke Scene magazine in Southern California for Los Angeles, or a specific area of Los Angeles, say like the San Fernando Valley, well, then I can think so.
Hey, check out the KJs for Dimples in Burbank. They have 7, one for each night of the week. So, HE IS NOT THE BEST. Probably no one is. Always someone better, and in most cases, always someone worse, but.... there are exceptions.

Nobody has said that YOU HAD to play people's personal cd's. It's been stated that it is good customer relations to allow it. If you don't want that rapport with your customers, nobody cares, the only thing they question, that you still haven't been able to answer (except the "IT'S MY SHOW & I'LL DO WHAT I WANT") with any feasable counterpoint to the MANY positive points to allowing someone to bring in their own discs, is why is it your policy. Sharing ideas IS one thing. You started the entire mudslinging back in January with the comment "ENOUGH IS ENOUGN !!!! Give us a break Dont you know Heavy Metal is not the thing...Rap & R&B is although Im not a fan of either one...give it a rest". Exact quote with spelling & everything. That was the first indication that you were going to be a mudslinger. Pretty much everything, except with a couple notable exceptions, has been negative towards peoples requests, their ideas & a few personal attacks when you couldn't be creative enough to think of anything intelligent to say. Those people were sharing ideas & putting in legitimate requests because it was what they would like to see on karaoke. You didn't like it so you tried to put it down, that's not sharing ideas, that's pretty much trying to dictate ie tell what should be & shouldn't be out on karaoke. As far as respecting YOUR ideas, present some ideas that are actually interesting, helpful or unique & we'll consider it or in the very least explain WHY you do or don't do something instead of saying "IT'S MINE, IT'S MINE" like a 4 year old child.

But remember he doesn't want to meet new people from here so even though many like to travel & meet other kj's & support shows across the states, he's the karaoke god almighty, (self proclaimed) number 1 with only 2 webhits when doing a search for his company (3 if you want to count the deadlink), head honcho working in the karaoke capitol of the world, that's right, Salina Kansas population of 45K people, where every other karaoke company should take note & learn.

I haven't been on the site in the past couple of days, and am just disgusted at the spectacle I'm reading. AND that's after BC's pruning of the shrubs.
The only thing that's happened is some threads have been closed down that I wanted to respond to... and Gem has increased his post count a hundred fold by spamming the board with multiple suggestions in the Christian Rock thread, and generally making a nuisance of himself.
On top of that, he's actually got the cajones to suggest that his two month old membership is somehow superior to someone that's been on here for four years!!
Well, we've ALL made our case to him. It's obvious that he's NOT here to learn, only to teach us all on what all to do. He won't change or even give the concept a thought, not just on this, but on anything. It's ALL about him and his shows, his number of years as a dj/kj, and oh, by the way, STILL all about him and his shows.
As with all things, I detest serious arrogance, and close-mindedness. He asks that we take him seriously, yet won't take us seriously.
Whatever. I'm done with this clown. He's a joke, and I could care less HOW successful he is, he's NOT a contribution to THIS site, and for that, he'll be ignored by me in the future.

Wow you spell & punctuate just as good as ol' Gem himself. Pretty much identical, are there not schools in Salina? Here let me correct your post for you from the actual topic name "Gemin Karaoke of Salina . I believe you meant Gemini Karaoke of Salina. A Gemin is an Ancient Roman liquid measurement. Now on to your post......

I'd be able to "listen" to someone that can spell & puncuate. It would be much more effective. And you aren't fooling anyone with the alter ego, your spelling, punctuation all the way down to the "..." between what should be individual sentences are a dead giveaway. It's funny that now the only "defender" of the (self proclaimed) Number 1 host of LOL SALINA, KS is your room mate (supposedly). Again the mudslinging was STARTED by Mr. Sears himself. It's started & hasn't stopped, so yes, you are correct that he is going to get jumped on for it & will continue to be as long as his posts are negative as well. The threads that he isn't disrespecting anyone, everyone is respectful back and THAT is a fact!

That would be funny to find out who said that. Truly hilarious. How many people do you talk to on this board that would give you the time of day, let alone any info on how I sing? That is funnier than anything i've heard in a long time. Exactly like Gem, when you can't think of an intelligent comeback, you have to try & put someone down. Same 4th grade mentality. Did you actually get any higher than the 4th grade? The spelling would show otherwise & the way you guys talk as well.

I've been on this board for a little while. Don't post much, but appreciate the insights and experiences other KJs and karaoke enthusiasts share. I don't think there's a "one size fits all" with respect to running a show. We can agree or disagree with any particular aspect of our business. Whatever works for anyone, that's great. I'll admit, I don't pay much attention, if any, when a thread deteriorates into personal attacks on either side, true or false, it all sounds the same (blah, blah, blah...sort of like my ex). It's just a turnoff and trigger to surf by elsewhere. I haven't followed any current ones, but I recall others (i.e., we need more Van Halen, Sammy...LOL) And, yeah, this happens most everywhere it seems - {sigh}. Just my $.02.
