Gem, it kinda sounds like it's all about you and not about your customers. I'll echo the sentiments of many here who have stated the upside of allowing outside discs, burned ones being the exception of course. Is there such a lack of competition in your area that you are able to get away with this policy? If you're the only or one of the only gigs in town maybe the patrons just don't know any better and when they find they have a choice the won't choose you. Doesn't that bother you at all? I too am not trying to change your mind, you seem dead set in your ways. But, you see how many different KJ's have chimed in on the subject and, burned disc's aside, see most haven't really offered any reason not to let a singer use their own disc. What do you think it says to you when so many of your peers can't follow your logic?

yes, older disc's <now many unavailable>, unknown availabiity <that experieced karaoke singers discover>, and more "sound choice" disc's that someone has than the host, means more customer satisfaction, period.......
lesson learned!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the many and I do many complaints is noone around here has new music except forme ..I have even at time bought in a CDG at another show for a singer due to the fact of the Karaoke guy in charge doesnt have it...one being the NEW motley Crue which by the way has been a big hit there thanks to me bringing it in..old music is done alot but after going to several show herein salina the new stuff is what people want and nobody has it as of yet except ME..the rulES and policys that have been introduce have been for one reason only to make GEMINI KARAOKE the top KJ in the area and it has gone very well ...although some of you may disagree with my Cant bring your disc policy ..it has worked for me and I have NOT lost any costumers because of it..they know who runs the show and I make no bones about where I stand..I ve seen costumers run over other KJs but they dont even try it with my...AS state in my contract the show is run by rules that include NO COSTUMERS DISC MAY BE USED. THE COSTUMERS IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT AND SOMETIMES THEY NEED TO BE SHOWN THAT..i WORK FOR KMART AND BASICALLY HAVE TO KISS THEIR *** HOW THEY WANT ...WHEN ...!!! BUT THIS ISNT KMART GEMINI KARAOKE IS OWNED ME AND MY RULES WILL BE FOLLOW ALL OF THEM REGARDLESS...AS I SAID BEFORE IF YOU DONT LIKE IT PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE...BUT JUST FOR EVERYONES INFO...I HAVENT YET LOST A COSTUMER BECAUSE OF IT AND WONT BECAUSE IM THE BEST KJ IN TOWN AND THEY KNOW IT!!!

Well, at least you admit to being rude then, if taking a disc to a show is rude.

Now costumers are not always right, but 9 times out of 10 the customer is.

But you bring in your discs to other shows so HOW RUDE are you? That's the most hypocritical statement i've ever heard.

So you really haven't answered the question why. So another speculation. You don't allow people to bring discs to your shows because (according to you & you ALONE) that's rude. Yet you do it, so you are rude when you do that & you don't want your customers to be like you? That's the way I understand it. It doesn't make any sense at all otherwise.

We are just trying to understand your reasoning. Now for another question on top of the original - HOW will NOT playing a customers personal disc make you number 1 in the business. This one completely slips past me as i'm sure everyone else on this board.
I also guess being you're in such small town you can do what you want & people will just have to accept it. The population of Salina is approx 45,000 people. Try doing what you want in a town of say ..... 200,000 or more & see how many customers (as it is the way it is spelled BTW) stay.

Question: How are you (self proclaimed) Number 1 when you don't have any shows. If you do a web search for your company, 3 links come up. One on the SC KJ List which you are stating 3,800 songs. One on the Top Hits Monthly site which shows 4 upcoming shows only, but those don't even start until May & the other link was a dead link so it don't really count. You don't list any of your shows on your website either.

Oh COME ON! Being openly gay isn't the issue. Why bring up a personal thing. What this entire thread has been about is Gem's policy on not allowing customer discs. Don't get personal or insulting someone's life decisions or physical attraction!

That's like blaming the needle for pointing NORTH for Criminey's sake!

And I agree completely with Lonman's point: If YOU Gem can bring a customer disc in with you to another's show, why can't you do allow that for someone else? Talk about two-faced!

And the other issue here is, I'm FROM Missouri originally. Watch it Gem, or I'll just pack it on up and go open a show that'll blow your smeggin' "no customer discs allowed"-one away! LOL!

Hey you don't want to change your policy we get it, but will you please spell "Customer" like it should.

A costumer cos·tum·er ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kstmr, -ty-, k-stmr, -sty-)
n.
One that makes or supplies costumes, as for plays or masquerades.
A clothes tree.

A customer cus·tom·er ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kst-mr)
n.
One that buys goods or services.
Informal. An individual with whom one must deal: a tough customer.

I could care less of rantings but that is just starting to irk me. It's like correcting my 6 year old's home work from 1st grade.

Wow, you sure changed that site fast. What's the matter afraid of anyone coming in? That site was just updated in the last couple days to eliminate the schedule. So no one can see where you are. Even that site said you had 4,500 songs, I see you updated that section as well.
Your website I wouldn't take the time to join. If you are so insecure that you have to have people join up (a WHOPPING 9 members I might add) then you are a sad little man. Huge following you have there.
