Where I do karaoke they want use karaoke music on the commercial (just bits & pieces) what the official ruling on this so I can say it's or (more likely) not?

I would think U can. It's your show. I would pick a song U like that no one ever sings, or a song U wish someone would sing. I can't speak to the legality, but I've seen it done. One of the venues around here filmed a commercial of the various features of the bar and includes a few seconds of karaoke, "Don't Be Cruel" if I remember right.

The network of the reality TV show "Survivor" used the karaoke track of Destiny's Child's song "Survivor" (not SC's version), and the owner of the karaoke company saw the commercial and recognized it as their karaoke track! Basically, the network paid them $100,000 (standard amount) to avoid legal proceedings.
