They must be up to something -Sound Choice never gives anything away. First they change their exchange policy to replace damaged discs for free, now they start giving away product? Next thing you know, they'll be asking our opinion about what to make.

The answer is simple my friends with a bit of deductive reasoning.
They are releasing Brick 6. Now before you all write me off allow me to validate my reasoning.
First off let's take a look at the spotlight releases this year. While they have been very good, they haven't been anywhere near as frequent as years past. On most release weeks we are seeing a Pop Hits, a Country Hits, and one other spolight released. In previous years we have seen as many as 2 or 3 additional spots along with the PH and CH discs. Also as some may recall, at the first of the year SC put out a run of 2001 Greatest Hits discs, while a great marketing move for the home based users it offered little new material for us pros.
Secondly, the grand prize is valued at over $250. What is SC's price for a Brick? Well my friends it happens to be $279 which all you math whizes will see is more than $250.
Thirdly, take a look at the Brick product page. There just happens to be a very nice spot laid out for another Brick. Why didn't they just center Bricks 4 and 5 under the first three? That certainly would have made for a better visual presentation. Well I'll tell you why. They were leaving the spot open for number 6.
Now in the past BC has said there wouldn't be another Brick, but perhaps this was simply a cunning plan to dissuade us from begging for info while they collected our requests to fill the set.
There you have it my fellow karaoke junkies. The mystery is solved for one and all.

After that much thinking I sure hope I'm right! LOL

Sound Choice never gives anything away free? Gee, someone call the cops on me then, because I have a bunch of stuff sitting in this very room that SC sent out as promos and thank-you's the last few years. I know for a fact that many others on this list have received free stuff as well.
Of course, none of this will match the prize that Music Maestro is giving away. They promise to NOT send you a disc. I can't possibly thank them enough for that.

ok, i called up miss cleo, and in between depositions she consulted her sources on "the other side" to give me the correct info:
1) soundchoice will follow the nba's hornets to new orleans. the city of new orleans, being the nation's largest metro area without a fortune 500 company's headquarters, has promised soundchoice substantial tax credits, guaranteed sales, and weekly deliveries of steamed crayfish to help catapult soundchoice to fortune 500-status within 12 months.
2) baron davis, free agent guard of the erstwhile charlotte hornets, will be awarded the title of CSO (chief singing officer), as an inducement to re-sign with the team. baron's first duties will be find contract singers within the new orleans area that sing at least as well as himself.
3) new orleans-based artists, such as lenny kravitz and n'dea davenport, have agreed to take lead roles in sponsoring congressional legislation to rewrite onerous licensing laws. baron davis agrees to donate $1,000 for every free throw he makes during the upcoming season to support this effort.
4) bank of america/nations bank, depressed that the city of charlotte just won't be any fun, will also relocate its headquarters to new orleans. "what's the fun of banking if you can't sing during lunch breaks?" will be the official statement released to the press.
miss cleo is never wrong.

I was getting the new releases stuff, but not the special offers. So I signed up for that, too!
Personally, I see a Queensryche Spotlight coming out soon! Oh, and a Billy Joel Vol 3 with all new unreleased material. Probably put that next to the Pink Floyd Spotlight, the issuance of every Nutech song ever made that's not currently on the books, and oh yeah...

According to the e-mail, it will be "news that will rock the karaoke industry". Brick 6 - Rodney sez that's not it. SC8125? fohgettaboutit! Not "rockin'" enough! What could be considered "rockin' the industry"? I got it! SC will start releasing new songs in DVD format. We are now in digital world. Digital audio-video. The big difference will be the background video. The video will be the original artist performance video that we watch and played on MTV. Think about it. No karaoke company has touch this kind of format. I am confident this is the big surprise. I would like to claim my $250.00 worth of merchandise now, please! :-) contact me at Kjay201@aol.com

Quite frankly if this is not a new set of some sort with a ton of new material or a serious price drop across the board, then I don't give a crap. MP3G? Who cares. I don't have a player and I don't plan on getting one. Mediacloq? Doesn't matter to me either. If this truly isn't new material or a cash savings for those of us who have invested our hard earned money, then it aint gonna rock diddly for me.

DJFang, you are one seriously short-sighted doorknob. Let me explain it to you in baby words. If Sound Choice can find a way to protect its interest from pirating, then it can lower prices. I won't go into details of how that works exactly, because I think it's above your comprehension level. However, the company has done so in the past.
Do I think that's what it is? No. I don't think we're that lucky. Am I hoping that's what it is? Yes.

Trust me L'op, I can certainly apprecriate the importance of Mediacloq and the eventual importance of MP3G. Hey I'd love to be able to carry less cd's around from show to show, and being able to protect my investment from pirates is very important to me.
The point I was trying to make is that why drag the suspense out over an entire month. The improvemts for Mediacloq quite frankly don't warrant as much hoopla as they are giving this. MP3G may, but as far as I know, there aren't any players available anyway. If they are available, then I shall change my tune entirely and I'll be the first to jump on the MP3G bandwagon and wave it's banner high for all to see.
My inital post was made somewhat in fun though that's what I'm really hoping for, and my second post was made in disappointment for my hopes being dashed. Guess you didn't notice that.

I agree with Eric that MediaCloq improvements don't warrant this kind of suspense. I mean, SC barely made mention of MediaCloq when it was introduced, and it was only when the DVD thing became an issue did SC address it. Even then, DVD was basically dismissed as a non-factor as far as karaoke is concerned. So, I don't think DVD-friendly MediaCloq is news that will "rock the karaoke world".
MP3G would be bigger news, but until somebody other than CAVS starts producing a player, I don't think that would be too big either. Of course, the news could be SC is buying CAVS (or some other similar service that doesn't exist yet), and, as Tim suggests, might have come up with a copy-proof MP3G.

They're putting out a reality based TV show where you get voted out of the bar - automatic ousts are songs over 6 minutes and anyone signing up for either Summer Nights or Love Shack - - I'd mention a couple others, but those songs are over 6 mins anyways.

I know, they've decided to skip HB Vols XII - XIV and go right to HB XV, so that some of us can get our Queensryche songs.

I was talking to my dealer, and we both came to the same conclusion. All of a sudden you can get DVD karaoke discs everywhere, the cheep ones I saw had about 28 songs for $17.98. So this leads us to believe that SC is going DVD. Finally we'll get all the PF on one disc.

I kind of hope it's not a change in format from CD+G to DVD. If so, we're going to have to reconfigure 5 of our six systems to include a DVD player. Also, didn't Pioneer abandon the idea of DVD karaoke? I really haven't seen many major players (Chartbuster, Top Hits Monthly, etc) switching formats so why should SC?

I don't think it's DVD either. I think SC is going to put their songs on line and let you cutome order discs, with just the songs you want. Probably want $5 or $10 per song, or something like that, though. That wouldn't really be a bad deal, I guess. Buy 15 songs that you know you will use. I might pay $75 for that.

I also predict that Spiderman will beat out Star Wars at the box office, the Lakers will three-peat, and the the Red Wings will win another Stanley Cup, only to have coach Scotty Bowman and goalie Dominik Hasek retire. Posts: 2367 | From: London, Canada | Registered: Apr 1999

I agree with those that say a format addition. MP3 makes some sense as it jives with current trends. It probably lowers some distribution and manufacturing costs and may be priced to stay somewhat out of the way of their dealer channels. But whatta I know. I'm hoping for; 1.)re-bricking by genre 2.)forbidden fruit 3.)complete albums

I hope not RJ! I've got about thirty discs that aren't currently playable once I hook up my new player. I'm just waiting until the Panasonic bites the dust!
I wonder if that happens if people will be able to return their current Ver.1 of MediaCloQ?
