Maybe we should put a posting in the Obituary section about the apprent death death of SC. I can't say I'm a customer anymore because I haven't bought a SC disk since SC9021 and 9022. Maybe if we all post our condolences there...maybe, just maybe, SC will see we really would like new music from them. I can't believe it is all a licencing issue...again are ALL the monthly,Zoom, Sun Fly and Chartbusters law breakers? You mean they can't be stopped by the courts via injunction? I can't fathom that.
I hate to say it but...I'll be singing Second Chance by Shinedown Friday....not the SC version though...too bad, 'cause it doesn't exist.
Sound Choice is so far behind the times now....everyone else has Saving Abel, the new Hinder & Nickelback trax, and all the new pop. These are songs my singers want to sing NOW. I have a small show and I average 10-20 singers in the rotation and they love the newest music that they hear on the radio now. The older and more experienced crowd likes to sing the oldermusic, but the only account for 25% of my singers.
I guess if SC ever comes out with new disks, I'll have to resort to using SC as a fill in. What a shame...The Karaoke world will suffer without the quality of Sound Choice...they will be missed.

Zoom and Sun Fly are UK manufacturers under different Copyright laws and licencing requirements. Chartbuster has either been or is currently being sued.

Regardless of the status of their lawsuit, Chartbuster is still pumping out the tracks that singers want to sing. It's a darn shame that SC seems to be closing their doors. They were the best in the biz, and I will always prefer their tracks over the competition.

I agree with everyone's opinion about the situation here. Although I am surprised that Matt didn't say anything about other karaoke company being mentioned by name like he mistakenly did on my post. I believe The Nashville Company lawsuit doesn't have anything to do what came out recently. Also I notice that the newer songs that isn't available on CD's are popping up on the custom site instead. There are about 20 songs that I've counted so far that fits that bill. Right now it would be hard for me not to conceder the competition when I have more of a younger crowd for my Saturday gig. Lately, Sound Choice disc have been of pop songs that already came out with the competition. I'm sure Sound Choice will resurrect, but hopefully it will be soon.

SC is still alive and we appreciate your loyalty. We won't comment on the legal status of our competition, other than to say that one of the companies mentioned here currently is being sued for an aggregate of over $4 million by a number of publishers.
We will have new music coming in April and hopefully monthly again thereafter. We will be releasing 8 song discs for a retail price of $17.95. Keep checking our future release page.

So what is the CRAIG (familiar logo with Craig audio) karaoke label produced at Sound Choice studios? Someone brought a disc in the other day with the CRAIG splash screen, but SC graphics & music. 4 song disc. Is this a new line for Sound Choice.

No, this is an old product from the early 2000's. Craig Electronics had the license for American Idol karaoke hardware and we have the American Idol license for karaoke music. We put a CRAIG splash screen to cross-promote their hardware, since we were working closely with them at the time. Effective this past Monday, March 16 we discontinued the American Idol music line since the annual license expired and it was not worth paying them their required advance to continue this brand.

I had someone with apersonal disk the other day That used *KARAOKE* as it's splash screen and the background color was a light blue but otherwise was an exact duplicate of the SC version of the song I have. I tried to do a web search for the discid which was FSK### but came up empty.

Hey guys - this is John from Sound Choice. We do appreciate the patience, more than you could know, and we ARE paying attention. As stated above, we'll have some new material out in April, and we hope to get into much more of a regular pattern. You'll get the same great SC quality, of course - we wouldn't do it any other way.
As a side note, I'll make it a goal to try to answer more of your questions. Please understand that I won't be able to answer everything, but I'll do the best that I can.
Thanks again, John - SC Studios

Thanks for taking the time to listen to us. I am happy to see someone from SC active on this board again (with all due respect to BC).

Just to know there is someone still willing to take the time to respond may mean more to us than you'll know!

Great, we have been heard! I am glad SC is alive. I was getting worried, I hope the 8 new cdg's "catch" SC up to the newer tunes. Now I can't wait...April will rock.
No one holds a candle to SC's sound or quality....hopefully the quantity can pick up. I have already emailed my local karaoke dealer to keep and eye open for new cdg's in April and I will be ordering as soon as we can!
Thanks again for hearing and responding to us. We don't want SC to fail, we have money to spend if you have new product to buy!
Again I can't wait until April. BTW when will you guys be updating the Future Releases section?

Hey guys - thanks so much for the kind words. Sorry to disappoint some of you, but there aren't 8 new DISCS coming in April - we'll have one 8-song disc, and it should be quickly followed by another. It'd be nice if we could push out that many, but we're not quite there yet.
Thanks again! John

Since the Powerpicks were more current releases in the past, this is what I would presume rather than a Star which was more catalog material rather than flavor of the week stuff.

So as I understand it, the Spotlights are now down to eight songs.

As I understand it, they just arnt going to do a spotlight right a way, but rather a refurbished Star type disc with newer music on it. Im personally waiting for the "catalog" type disc to come back. Robert Plant, Lynyrd Skynyrd Spotlight's maybe. Posts: 440 | From: Kirkland, Washington | Registered: Jul 2006

Do you guys remember when we'd do 2 Power Picks and then combine them, minus the weakest song, onto a Spotlight? We know KJs don't like the 8-song discs, so we're trying to make you guys happy as well, as far as getting current music.
We're still sorting it out, so no promises that the next 2 Power Picks will turn into Spotlights. That's just what we hope to do.

I remember quite well. As far as KJ's goes, we would prefer the full disc. The 8 song discs are mainly for beginners that need vocal training since the 8 tracks have a vocal demo track as well. When I use to sell them, most of the customers needed these demo tracks to learn for an upcoming engagement or weddings etc. There were some songs that were only available for Power Picks and made it hard to buy when we already had most of the songs on a previous disc. Power Picks were a harder sell since most disc were either all pop or all country. Hopefully the future disc would have music that I don't already own via the competition.

Musically the new Power Picks won't be confined to one genre. It'll be the best songs we can (legally) produce.

So unfortunately to get the catalog material that most kj's want we still have to outsource to other sources that produce them regardless of the preferred quality of SC? Again, I get maybe 10% of NEW song requests, 90% are for 70's-90's & have to go overseas to find maybe half of those anymore?

Since we can't edit posts! I have to say if the biggest sales are for the newest music, not seeing it in a professional asapect. Our main client base is in the 20's to 40's and again they are singing & ASKING for 70's to 90's rock/pop. The newest requests for any surrnet song are typically country.

It's pretty much the opposite environment here, where current music is king.

ugh, forgot you can't edit posts! pretty much around here with the majority of the crowd you're looking at calling bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana "classic rock" with the RARE RARE 80s cheese (Rick Astley, Take On Me, Journey)

Are these new discs going to have the demo tracks on them? Since the licensing had to be paid twice for that, I would just as soon you guys spent those resources on new tracks and just put the instrumental tracks on the disc. You can practically find any song on youtube now if a person wants to practice it.

Dan - Yes, they'll have demo tracks. The licensing for two uses of a song is expensive, but it's NOWHERE near the cost of producing 7 more tracks (plus added time for licensing). We do hope to start creating Spotlights out of 2 Power Picks (minus one song), so be patient with us.
What we're doing now is not necessarily what we'll do from here on, so hopefully you guys can enjoy the music we put out while we're working toward getting back to "old" SC ways.

I hope that 1 song that won't be placed on the spotlight disc can still be available via custom CDs. I was force to buy a power pick disc for a song that had "Fabolous & Nate Dogg - Can't Deny It" since it wasn't available via custom CD. I had all of the other songs on that disc.
