Just got the email regarding this machine ( http://www.soundchoicestore.com/pck-3000-ii-dvd-karaoke-player-pg-51.html )...seems intriguing, but I must ask:

1. Does it play CDG?

2. Says it will play digital files from an external hard drive...what formats (Zips, MP3G unzipped...etc...)?

3. How does one navigate to find songs on the hard drive using the player? Will it read subfolders or do the 9999 possible songs have to just be in a linear list? What happens if you acquire more than 9999 songs, LOL?

Harry bud, it reads CDGs. Look under Turbo Load Feature. Now can you read or is your hair in your eyes. LOL

It looks like it is just available as of yesterday. I was wondering if you can just take a cable and plug it into yout t.v. for home use. My son has my old system at his apartment and I fear he will get evicted if I leave it there much longer. I would like to get him one that you just plug into your t.v. and don't have to plug into everything else cause he loves singing karaoke. So when you find out U let me know.

The PCK-3000/II plays DivX or Xvid files from the USB and also Jpegs and Mp3's. There are many sites currently offering karaoke tracks in many different formats, Mp4, Mp3+G etc and with a simple software converter those these tracks can be "format shifted" into Xvid or DivX to suit the PCK-3000/II so my advice would be to use these for now. I believe that Sound Choice will be offering download tracks on their site very soon.

The tracks need to be numbered sequentially from 0001 up and the most important thing is that this be done in a folder on your computer and when finished, drag the entire folder onto a USB stick or hard drive. The drives MUST be formatted as FAT32 (that is the default setting on memory sticks). 8gig USB sticks are readily and cheaply available now, so my advice would be to use those, your compression rate will detirmine how many tracks you can get on each.

If you put subfolders on the USB stick, the player ignores them and combines all folders, but in order from the oldest to the newest, so if you had a "New releases" folder those tracks will be numbered by the player as the next number available after the previous folder. The best and simplest way is to add the songs into the one folder. If you really want to have seperate folders, keep them on seperate USB sticks.
When updating a memory stick with new songs, it is vitally important that you make a copy on your desktop, then delete the memory stick. Open the folder on your desktop and if the last song was #2500, then start adding new songs from #2501 up. This way your songlists will stay in the correct order and you simply add your new additions on to the end of the list. When your additions are complete, simply "drag" the entire folder back onto the stick.

**IMPORTANT** Only have one type of file on the removable media because the player looks for Mp3's, then Jpegs, then AVIs in that order. If you have Mp3's on the media as well, you will have to use your remote control to switch over to the AVI section on-screen, but if you have only AVIs on the media, after indexing the drive the player commences to play the first track on it automatically. Press "STOP" and then your desired number and you are playing karaoke. If you wish to play track "9" for example, the player waits to see if you ar going to press any more numbers (for 999 as an example). You can either wait a few seconds for the player to begin, or you can instead always use a 3 digit input (009) or press 9 or any other selected number followed by PLAY.

**NOTE** The "Single Play" feature which works so well on discs does NOT work through the USB.

Yes, it can be directly plugged into a normal TV.

I purchased this player as a back up for my shows, just in case my Pioneer decided to die on me, which I've had for years with no problems yet. This player is good for home use to just play around with, but certainly not for a thriving karaoke business. It is not durable enough for heavy duty playing. But if you want one to use at home, it's great.
Sound Choice customer service on returning this was superb.

How do I number the tracks (almost 10,000 of them) automatically?

"The tracks need to be numbered sequentially from 0001 up and the most important thing is that this be done in a folder on your computer and when finished, drag the entire folder onto a USB stick or hard drive."
