Do they still pay attention to the requests & whatever else that gets posted? I have yet to see BC or even SCAdmin post anytime recently regarding anything. Did they bring the forum back for useful input or just to satisfy the ones that want to rant in the forums? It would be nice to see SOME sort of response even if it's a flat out no!

it would be interesting to know if our comments, questions, concerns, etc are being heard and/or discussed with higher ups.

I think SC did some restructuring. BC hasn't been active on these forums since they were taken down earlier this year, so he may have been reassigned or released.
SCadmin may be a general mod account, but I don't think the person/persons using the account bother to check the forums very much.
The company is still releasing (which is good), so my opinion is that SC cut back on staff, and the ones who were active on this board were among the cuts.

I don't think they are going down, but definitely moving in other avenues. The opening of their studio to the public for the first time is one for sure. http://www.soundchoicestudios.com/ Karaoke is not going to be their bread & butter exclusively it looks like.

well, they've BEEN moving in other areas, such as the dopi stuff, and the trying to appeal to the major market. Not saying I disappove of it (Lord knows if I were the head hancho, I doubt I'd stay on a sinking ship), I just think SC as we know it has come and gone! Or about too.

it would be nice to hear from someone, just to let us know that after 7/8 years as a community that people have moved on, and this isn't the same place it was nor will it ever be again.

well if they're not reading anything that goes on here, what's the point of having the forums at all?

Because when they pulled them down, there was so many complaints that they brought it back up. Why I was wondering if they just brought it back up for peoples own satisfaction of having the forum back.

Well, the fact remains that this board USED to be read and BC and Rodney, and even the owners chimed in from time to time.
Since the boards return, there's been precious few interaction. Usually it's been Rodney (or whoever's in the ADMIN ID now) telling us about a bug fix.
But if they're not going to take our input, sheesh, might as well take the bboard down, or at least, sections of it.

I've been wondering the same thing. Seems like since they took it down BC hasn't been on here and you would think they would have some kind of moderation on here.
I believe my dad was right (which is posted on here a couple years ago)that karaoke was/is a fad it just lasted longer than most fads.
Karaoke is not as hot as it use to be around here anymore. Last year the local bands made a huge come back and karaoke died out dramitically. This very questionable economy isn't helping anyone either.
Now SoundChoice if you are reading this and decide to pull out could you first do these 3 fun songs as these girls are all having fun singing these.

I don't know about the rest, but when I tried e-mailing BC (about 6 months ago), his e-mail address bounced back as unknown.

It seems the "rock band" concept of bands letting people sing a song is the thing that's popular these days. Which is fun, if you know the lyrics by heart.

I disagree with the notion of karaoke being a "fad". There's a lot of factors that contributed to the "decline" of karaoke... When karaoke exploded, everyone and their mother got on the bandwagon and soon there were too many KJs, all fighting for work - and the scene was flooded.
cd vs pc has created a catch 22. CD KJs depend on discs and new releases and have the misfortune of lugging around discs, having them get stolen, scratched etc... Meanwhile waiting on the labels to release new songs. PC KJs don't have any of that and RARELY get a request that they can't fill. But at the same time it's technically "not legal". Which brings me to my next point.
Support. CD KJ's are finding that labels are going under, they're not getting newer songs as frequently which turns some of the potential singers off.
Couple all of this with many folks getting sick of hearing others sing the same songs. People tend to go elsewhere when they hear the same songs enough.
Cops and drinking. Drinking is the main part of clubbing and bar hopping. Owners don't like to lose money by serving everyone water, but many don't want the chance of a DUI/DWI from the increasingly aggressive police. People still finds things to do, but I've noticed in various areas, it's not just the "karaoke" business suffering. Lots of clubs are losing business as well.

For some time BC was knelling about the future of SC and karaoke. I post but one comment from him here. It is from Jan.
[QUOTE]Originally posted by BC/Studio Manager: [QB] The reason there are less discs released now than years back is due to rising costs, shrinking market, and lower revenues.
Piracy and licensing sum it up.
We're heeere... BTW, I agree with others that note that we are AD BC.

1. As a "CD KJ", I use a PC, I just rip all of the discs I purchase into the PC. In fact check out the Karaoke Induastry Alliance that just started here> www.kiaa.org ... I'd be the first to agree that if the lazy people trying to be KJ's out there would quit ruining the business it would be better for all of us.
2. It took me awhile to notice that SC hasn't been producing as many discs lately. Although rising costs, shrinking markets and lower revenues would certainly seem to be reason to produce less, I'd have to say they are, instead, limiting their income. There are still KJ's out there who buy legitimately and they buy from the best. Do I own MM's and SGB's? Of course, but now that I've been in the game awhile, I throw most of my money at SC, PHM & CB because they are the best and I can rely on them. I feel as though, with SC limiting the amount of newer songs they do, they are essentially stepping aside and saying, "Here. We no longer want to be the best. Somebody else can take your money."

Karaoke isn't their only source of income, they do have several other sources. But trying to stay legit & the shrinking pro market as opposed to the home market, it's harder to put out songs as often - legally.

Well, seeing that this threead has been going on for a 1-1/2 month, it would tend to lead one to believe that this forum is not read at all by those making decisions at Sound Choice. Oh well, life goes on. lol.

I got an answer from SCAdmin, recently, so it sounds like they are still around, which is good to hear.
