Didn't I see that you like many of the karaoke manufacturers are licensing music tracks for recording in commercial ventures? Do you have the particulars here, or could you list them, email them? I know most start at about $75 per song with it going to $60 for multiples. The license is for life for the person purchasing in most cases. This does not extend to onscreen graphic lyric displays, but to music track use ONLY!

You can read the FAQ page here and see if you can find it again. Last time I read it, they had a Master Track licensing arrangement, that was something like $125-$150 per song, plus per copy fees, plus royalties to the publishers, etc.
I'm sure SC has some arrangement for other commercial uses, and I'm also sure that they aren't going to say what those costs are on this board. It's more likely negotiated on a per case situation.

I would assume that Sound Choice would be in the same ball park as some of the other companies who now do this. This has nothing to do with recouping monies for a disc, which they say determines the prices they charge to make profit from the many different licenses. This does not require payment of royalties for graphic display as a cdg does. They create the recreations and own the rights to their music renditions. The Mechanical Licenses for commercial reproduction are the responsibility of the individual applying to commercially sell themselves singing the songs. I have all that information and the contacts. That is very much apart from paying for the music track which is owned by the producer.

Debra, look in the FAQ information for uses, applications, costs and implementation information regarding Master Tracks licenses for Sound Choice copyrights. We've been doing this for years for lots of folks, with lots of different uses.
If you have some specific use or request that isn't covered in that information, please call our Licensing Department.

Thank you BC. I will look for it. I have only recently been looking into it as I have had people asking for some music compilations. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! Posts: 542 | From: Mobile, Alabama, USA | Registered: Jan 2000
