Well I can give you the exact price in the UK, and that is 12p per track per copy for the use of the music and the lyrics. That's whether you license 1 copy or a million copies.

Dale, are you saying that they are not yet recorded? If so then it would really depend on who records the songs, what studio is used, ect. Then also i've seen custom cdg authoring for $100.00 a track on another site. I have done it myself for a few local bands..Both are an inch away from a recording contract www.stepton.comwww.nsykeur.com Both of these bands have asked me to make karaoke discs for them so their freinds can come to my show and sing their songs (further promoting them). Stept on, (formerly WRENCH) is now managed by CREED's Managament and is going an a national tour next month.
what's nice about these karaoke tracks is it actually the original band playing.

Thats pretty cool that the band is into karaoke! I wish all bands had that mentality. I think its a great concept to promote intrest in the band. Good luck with it, and let us know how it turns out! TM

I just got word from Super Shredder Guitarist PAUL GILBERT (of Mr.Big, Racer X) giving me permission to produce a Paul Gilbert karaoke disc. He sells millions of cd's in Japan and europe. His Solo cd's are much better than anything he did with Mr. big. He has really sharpened his songwriting skills and came out with some very catchy pop tunes. Once i talk to his publisher and bang out the details Paul will send me some instrumental versions of 8 songs. I will then author the graphics and produce a LIMITED number of discs. I won't really make any money but i will have made something unique. I'll keep you posted.
I don't think SC will mind me posting this here because it doesn't in any way compete with them. I'll keep ya posted

It's gonna take some time. I have to get clearance from Wixen Publishing and then all the tedious work begins.. this is not something i want to get into alot due to the expense. Thanks Bose..I'll let you know. This will be very limited edition and i'm gonna try to get them all signed by paul gilbert as well.

If this guy is willing to do you a good deal on the licensing/music etc. then it would be great if you could use photos of him on the CD surface and in the CD+G. That would give the product a very professional edge. I would love to have pictures of the artists in the instrumentals, but it costs too much.
