Queen 39 was an instrumental backing track from one website that specialises doing audio backing tracks but without any graphics. I then paid someone to do the graphics. No backing vocals on this audio backing track though.

Zambo,

I could see where a host could view 3 6 plus songs as pushing the envelope depending on the size of the rotation but I agree you should not have been cut off with out at least some prior warning and being treated the same as anyone else singing longer songs.

Saturday (last night from Northern California)

John Mellencamp - Paper in Fire
John Michael Montgomery - Be My Baby Tonight

IT DIDN'T LAST LONG....THE SINGERS COULDN'T HEAR THEIR FOLDBACK, THE DYNAMICS BLEW THEM AWAY....LOL

No corny names here. The band has done this for while and does 1 show a month at each of the two venues. At one of them they replaced conventional karaoke. I love the interactive nature of singing with the band as I did a bunch of singing to duelling pianos a while back and doing a request duet was a bonus. I have no problem with the sound at the venues. My one regret from last night was that I didn't quite have my full range so I was a little more conservative with song choices that I might otherwise been.

Awesome Zambo! I also sang 39 by Queen the one with the backing vocals version last Thursday night for the first time. 2 guys drinking at the bar were singing along loudly to it while the DJ didn't know the song. I also sang Little Wing (Sting) which has a long awesome solo guitar and solo soprano saxophone in the middle and a shorter guitar solo at the end.

Bad news! The main karaoke bar in my town has banned me from playing my discs. The owner says the bar could get to a lot of trouble for playing customers' discs. Well she didn't know only copied or burned discs will get the bar into trouble not ordinary official karaoke CD-Gs. But the bar to ban all types of customers' discs. Now I only have 1 more bar that plays every Thursday nights only to sing my songs. I just hope they won't ban my songs as well because You're A Friend Of Mine is coming out and I have yet to sing Still Fighting It (Ben Folds) and Hard Woman (Mick Jagger). Just let me sing these songs first at least. Fingers crossed!

WHAT STATE ARE YOU IN Sabathiel....?

I'M IN QLD AND I DON'T KNOW A SINGLE KJ WHO IS PAYING ROYALTIES (BUTT OF COURSE I COULD BE WRONG).

I KNOW THAT THE BARS PAY APRA IN ADVANCE FOR LIVE ENTERTAINMENT BUTT I'M UNSURE IF THAT COVERS KARAOKE. THEY MAKE UP THE COST IN THE PRICE OF THEIR BOTTLED WATER....LOL.

AS FAR AS PLAYING CUSTOMER DISCS, MOST STILL DO THIS WITHOUT BATTING AN EYE. IN TRUTH THEY'RE JUST HAPPY TO PULL CROWDS. I EVEN TOOK MY USB STICK TO A COUPLE OF SHOWS WITH PC'S. ALTHOUGH I'M NOT HOT ON THE IDEA COZ THE KJ CAN COPY YOUR FILE WHEN YOUR NOT WATCHING......

UNRELEASED SONGS ARE GOLD MATE....!

I am in Tassie and this has never happened to me until now. I even brought my own USB stick once and they had no problem playing it. I hope this won't spread o other KJs now. I sometimes go to Sydney and karaoke there and most KJs won't play copied or burned discs. 1 idiot KJ even wouldn't play a Pro Burn custom disc because he says it is still a copied disc. I told him but Pro Burn custom disc already includes licensing right and that's why it cost more than $100 for 15 songs. I told him they are not illegal discs but he still wouldn't play it. He told me to speak to the manager and the manager is an idiot also. LOL

I've been taking my own burned discs for about 3 years and before that I brought either custom Pro Burn discs or official karaoke CD-Gs.
