OMG Mark! That is so cool! There are quite a few guys songs that I sing, but no one is pestering me to do them. In fact, they'd probably rather I didn't do them hehehehe My most recent Guy song that I have been trying is Drops Of Jupiter by Train. I have been known to attempt any Beatles song, Some of them I change the words, like the song Girl becomes Boy and I change just a few words to make it more believable... like, switching the word "cry" to "lie" LOL... changing just that one word in that verse make is take on a whole new (and more appropriate) meaning. I also have sang a few songs by (in no order whatsoever) Ambrosia, Al Green, Otis Redding, Chicago, Erasure, Steely Dan, Todd Rudgren, Aerosmith, John Denver, Peter Frampton, George Benson, Earth Wind & Fire, the Clash, Santana, Bobby Caldwell, Steppenwolf, etc, etc, etc. This list just gets weirder and weirder from here Anyway. Cool that you get to experiment with "Gender Benders". Funny that I get a lot of snickers from the audience when I use that phrase... as though they think I don't know what it means.

tjmat, you know, I could not get that song out of my head when I was on a low carb diet. LOL! I am a bread FREAK!!!! Yeah, I'd pester you to sing it too!

I sing a lot of girl songs too (although nobody requests me to do them). I sometimes do Jewel, Heart, Natalie Imbruglia, No Doubt, and that Michelle Branch tune. I also like doing Pat Benatar, but those seem like they were almost MEANT for a guy to sing them.

BTW, there's a good thread around here somewhere called Sing According To Gender

My achilles heel is singing Three Little Pigs by Green Jelly. I get asked to do that at every show. Between the high pig part and the low raspy wolf parts I feel like a vocal gymnast, and I'm usually shot afterwards.

Yeah, you gotta be careful what you sing, or people will ask over and over... my thorns.
Cowboy and Slim Shady. So I did the genderbender thing and did One Minute Man (all three parts) and it brought down the house, and now I get requests to do it. The thing that makes it fun is all the oohhs, ahhs, and stuff in the beginning. Course they haven't asked me to do Valley Girl in the San Fernando valley again. I also get requests for Homecoming Queens Got A Gun and Concrete Blondes Joey.

I have had people to ask me to do songs that I don't even normally sing and it ALWAYS happens that when my turn comes to sing it-THEY'RE GONE and I could've sang something I WANTED to sing for ME!
Tell them the truth, you've done it quite often and you'd prefer to sing something different that night!

I absolutely LOVE when someone asks me to sing a song for them. But, never fail there is that ONE person who ALWAYS asks you to sing something you don't know or never heard of. My response to that is to let them know I just don't know it and I will try to learn it for them. Yes I like to sing for myself, but I most enjoy when everyone around me is enjoying it as well.

My biggest requests are Bitch-Meredith Brooks, Just a Girl-No Doubt, What's up-4 non Blonds, and BLue Bayou-Linda Ronstadt
