Unfortunately, my new primary occupation schedule does not allow the time or dedication to continue my karaoke business. So, I have the complete SoundChoice library (GEM/SAPPHIRE/EMERALD series - 6000 songs) avail for sale. In interested, let me know. We will need to coordinate the sale with SoundChoice.
Thanks, Derry

Are you the eBay user 12livewire? If you are, then yes, I have seen this product up for sale and would like to purchase it. I am not a KJ myself, but I would like to be one if I can't get any other job that can earn me money and investing in the GEM series would be a damn good place to start for this line of business. If you can offer to discount the price a bit lower than what I saw on the eBay listing ($3200), then I think we just may have a deal.

Don't worry, Lonman. I made a good offer with that eBay user and gave her enough legitimate information for SC to transfer the licensing over to me. I've known about the karaoke business for four years and now I think it should be my turn to take part in being a host and calling all the shots. The GEM series is the best way I could ever get a legitimate karaoke library in this day and age and I think it's just as good a catalogue for amateur hosts as it seems to be for the pros. Anyone who disagrees just doesn't realize how much of a quality brand SC has been in the history of karaoke.

And to make my point more valid Lonman, I have found the following statement printed on the licensing agreement:
quote:Regardless of your present situation (whether you are in a lawsuit with Sound Choice or trying to avoid one by the legal purchase of a set of discs or just starting in business) you will be making a substantial investment in your business by the licensing of these Tracks.
Hence I'm sure an amateur KJ could order the GEM series, considering what words were placed in bold on that quote.

From my quick read of the license agreement it does not require any affirmative representation that someone is currently actively engaged in a karaoke business, so I would tend to agree with barosjn. However, the scope of the license granted is "for the purpose of conducting a commercial business or for occasional private home use by you" which makes it clear that the intent is that the set be primarily used in business.

Been there done that, Lonman. SC has approved of the purchase I made on eBay after I signed the license agreement, filling in all of the required information. The discs and the license with my stickers should arrive in the mail sometime soon. Then, I will go to one of the bars in my university and see if I can set up a show (they don't have karaoke a lot there and when they do, it's mostly off a bunch of burned and bootlegged discs, so once I tell them that my tracks are fully licensed, the karaoke scene there could actually evolve into something big and there's a good chance that they could have those kinds of nights weekly instead of once a year).
