Does anyone know how to get a signal from a HD monitor? or what extra hardware I may need? I'll tell you what I have tried, and maybe y'all can guide me in the right direction. I run a RF modulator from my cdg player (NuMark) this converts the signal from the yellow video out to a coaxial out, which I use to power the singers video monitor (that is pretty standard), but the audience monitor is a flat panel HD Toshiba Monitor, and because it is a monitor only, it has not got a tuner, and I cannot turn the TV to channel 3 or 4 for the RF mod. to work. I have brought my home VCR in and hooked through it to use the VCR's tuner and that did not work either, any suggestions? I can remove the video signal cable, it is hooked into Video 1 video output, these outputs also carry a right & left audio out, along with Video 2, and Video 3. The cable they use is coaxial, with a RCA screw on adapter. What I can't understand is, I totally disconnect the unit's video signal, and plug my signal into the same place, and nothing happens.

using a VCR as a demodulator will work, but on some models you have to select the recording input then play a tape briefly change the output, to see an image.
I'd suggest you split the signal before the monitor... the 'yellow' video signal that comes out of the numark is what the toshiba wants.

Does your player have a video out? if it does you should be able to go directly from V-out on player to V-in on tv and go to V- 1.2.or 3 depending on which one you plugged into.

I'm curious as to what kind of TV you are using for your customers that it doesn't have a video input so you could just skip using the modulator altogether and just run a splitter for both TV's.

s'funny....I was just gonna sound off about looking for itty-bitty tv monitors I can use to pre-screen (for my DVD player)that have some kind of video pass-thru. This way I can cue up a rock video on my DVD player and not have the audience see me doing it. Makes for a smoother transition in the show.
I know Vocopro's got some little 5" LCD thing...anyone ever work with one? Or another option?

you know, I used to use one of those 5" tv and radio portables you get from Walmart, Walgreens, etc... ran that off a splitter so I could do the menu selections so it was ready to start, and then once queued up, switch the a/b switch ... I had two of them. One for video and one for audio!

Try turning the HDTV off, pulling out the Hi Def card on the HDTV, and turning it back on with your coaxial already hooked up.

A company called Intech makes 5 inch LCD Monitors that were originally designed to hook to the back of a Nintendo GameCube. They have standard A/V inputs and are real easy to use. You can usually find them at Toys 'R Us for a discounted clearance price now that the Gamecube is on its last legs. Full retail was $139 a couple of years ago and I have seen them at a quarter of that price recently. I have adapted one to a mic stand for use as the singer's monitor in places where the TV is inaccessible and it works great.

The TV I want to hook up as an audience monitor is mounted on the wall directly to the left of the singer. It is a 30" flat screen Toshiba HD. The TV I use for the singer monitor is a 12" Sony tube type. I have to use the RF modulator for the singer monitor, since the only output is a coaxial. I usually run a splitter for external TV's. The hard part is, the flat screen is mounted on the wall and there is only a few inches of tilt to plug a wire in, or to service the unit. I was wondering if there is some sort of "video to HD signal adapter" available out there.I also ran the "yellow video-out" cable directly to the video input and nothing happened. I went on Toshiba's website and they stated "never to run a computer or gaming console on this model since the still picture would fry the components" but don't all TV's state that? Guess I'll have to see if the owner will spring for a used tube type or something for karaoke nights, you know how boring it is without audience partisipation, the audience needs a monitor too, how else do you really get "in" to it.

Also, maybe it is just that TV or monitor, I've never had any troubles before with any TV being, tube, flat, projection, HD, or Plasma

I think we're talking about the exact same monitor, and it doesn't work for me unless I pull the video card out. When I do, I can use the cable in coaxial plug on the Toshiba. We have the same set-up, too, RF modulator to coaxial splitter.

Out of curiosity, why would you need a switch on the audio? Just run the audio through the mixer, this gives you the ability to fade a song into another as well, instead of just cutting it off.

You should see it on the bottom of the monitor, very close to the cable-in coaxial plug. While the tv is off, you can just pull it out. It doesn't have to be pulled out all the way, it will stay in place. It may also be behind the screen, and if you're nervous about getting behind it, those mounts are made so you can service the TV, so ask a staff member for help.
