She got a gig in a place where the manager is blatantly saying she sucks in singing, music choice sucks and pretty much turning off anyone who comes up to sing. My opinion is to just leave. anyone else has an opinion on this before i say a word to her?

I would say she should look for a gig to replace this one with, because it doesn't sound like the kind of place that will stay in business long, with a manager running off customers like that. As Matt would say "Sheesh!" LOL

Was she hired by the manager OR the bar owner?
Is the bar owner aware of this behavior? If the bar owner is unaware that his staff is undermining his business decisions and deterring customers, there may be a chance that this venue will work out once the proprietor is brought up to speed and this negative behavior is curbed.

An unenviable and messy situation indeed! I think the manager's behavior speaks volumes about her job security there. It may be best if she looks for another gig B4 it's too late, afterwhich she can just gracefully move along and chalk the presently undesirable gig up to experience!

Not only deterring the customers but obviously putting down the very customers that they are trying to gain. She should go to who actually hired her & if it was the same person, then she needs to just get out now.

I think I'm fairly well-versed in TJmat-ese. Here's a shot.
1 - The Manager was the person who hired TJmat’s friend to KJ.
2 - After researching either the possibility of karaoke in this bar being a viable business, OR, after researching whether or not this KJ was a good prospect, OR, after investigating whether or not the Manager could set up the KJ as the fall-guy - none of this is really clear to me - the Manager hired the KJ against the Owner's wishes.
What part of the equation the owner was against is not clear, either. Did the owner not believe in karaoke for the bar business? (My guess.) Or did the owner not believe this KJ was the right choice?
3 - After karaoke and the KJ proved successful in generating profits for the bar (yo!), the Manager suddenly went Jekyll-Hyde and turned against the KJ for an unexplained or unknown reason. (My take - this could be about ego, such as the KJ not appearing to be sufficiently grateful or ass-kissing to the Manager. Or it could just be a personality conflict between them. Or, choose any of the following - drugs, insanity, being dumped, bad day at the DMV, or other factors outside the context of the bar and karaoke.)
All of the above is pure speculation and stated with tongue-firmly-in-cheek, and not intended to make fun of or ridicule a difficult situation.
Ultimately, the KJ is going to have to go face-to-face with the Manager and/or the Owner. In the end, it will be an ugly situaton (of course, it's already ugly), and, even if proven victorious or justified, the KJ may not win. The KJ should put it out there and, if necessary, walk away TripleH (head held high). Or, be prepared to live with a less than satisfactory result. Hope it works out.

As for the owner situation, owner didn't belive karaoke could make money, then when it did kept her on. At least that's the wy it was put to me by inside sources.

After I told my friend what consensus of what she's doing she quit. Unfortunatly for me is that manager and the one or woody's talked and he did the same to me. I pretty much said seeya myself on that note. No regrets on my part. Other managers recognized these two guys were jerks to begin with and will not hear one word about it. Score two for the KJ's
