The Powerball is up to $215 million for Saturday and it brought up this discussion at work today. Would I quit this job would I still run karaoke. So how many of you think you would keep KJ'ing if you won that? to make it more intersting tell us what you would do? I think I would want to open a huge club and still run karaoke but 1 specific night just for Rock N Roll singers. If you wan tto check out the powerball: www.wilottery.com

Yeah Stacy, I'd still do karaoke because for me it's a nice break from my regular career. Without wanting to upset anyone here it's my recreation doing shows. I'd also keep my regular job too because I like it so much. Don't get me wrong, I'll love the money to be sure but there is something to be said for self-worth and money can't buy that. Gotta go now and buy some tickets. Posts: 902 | From: Joliet,IL.USA | Registered: Oct 2001

I understand completely about the break from your regular career as I also have a full time day job. I would probably keep doing both but would take 1 month off just to go shopping. Buy some tickets huh? Good Luck! Stacy

If I hit the big jackpot, hell no! My happy a$$ would be moving to Los Angeles to get myself into some good old-fashioned martial arts B-flicks.

Aw hell, yeah!! In fact, I'd quit my day job (letter carrier, USPS...please, no "goin'postal" jokes )and just run karaoke! Might even get me a few systems complete with the ENTIRE SC catalog!!
I'm not a KJ, but if I won the lottery, I'd become one!
One of the reasons I don't KJ is because I've got a medical condition that prohibits the lifting of heavy equipment. So if I had an unlimited amount of money, I'd hire a whole crew of huge guys to carry all the stuff and set it all up. I'd have someone else spinning the tunes, and I'd be up there to "emcee" the whole thing.
Of course, all the equipment would be top notch, and there would be an enormous song selection (all Soundchoice, of course). Shows would be held in the biggest venues, with huge stages and light shows.

Can you imagine seeing Tim in a martial arts movie with the overdubbed voices?

Hmmmm.... I probably would find a bar to purchase and dedicate it to karaoke (not unlike a certain Chinese restaurant in East Portland) with a couple o' plasma-screen TVs around the room, some decent equipment, and the complete SC and Sunfly libraries (that oughta do it!) ...then I'd fly Henley up to sing in it.... I'd definitely quit the day job. Not sure about still doing karaoke. Though it's fun, I don't think I'd want to commit to doing anything. Would probably not stay put in one place as well - at least with that size of a prize.

If your are working at something that you'd still do if you didn't need the money you are doin' the right thing.
With several million dollars I'd keep running Karaoke till it was all gone Actually it would push our Ten year plan ahead by 9½ years. Karaoke/Dance Bar with retail shop - practice booths and mobile system offices all in one place.... Of course this would just be the first in a multinational chain of partybars. I want nothing less than World Domination through Karaoke

I love the "dig" on Henley, don't know how many got it though. One other thing, I wouldn't let him sing his or any Eagle songs. Posts: 902 | From: Joliet,IL.USA | Registered: Oct 2001

Forget about Karaoke... I'd hire a band to play the music live. And I'd buy a teleprompter and pay somebody to scroll it for me.....
Or better yet. I'd create a Karaoke Ranch. With an ampitheater carved into the side of a hill. During the day you'd sign up for different singing clinics, i.e. Breath Control for smokers, Pitch Control for the mono-tone, Enunciation while completely Snockered for those who can't handle their liquor, etc. And during the evenings the karaoke begins and at the end of each week you'd have an awards ceremony for most improved, best performance, Highest note (for the Mariahs and Whitneys and castrata out there) Lowest Note (for the Barry Whites out there) most orginal version of a song. Kinda like Karaoke Camp/School.
Who's with me?

Well them lottery people sure made their money. In Wisconsin alone they sold 11 million dollars worth of tickets and with the other 22 states NOW involved they profitted. There were 2 $100,000 winners in Wisconsin which shocks me.
