What is the most embarassing or most "unprofessional" thing you've done? Myself? I told a guy to "kiss my a**" and he told me to bear it.......well..... ha ha ha let's just say he won't ask me to do that again. Then tonight, told to drop my shorts......well.......ha ha ha couldn't pass that up (shirt was long). Crowd loved it! Matter of fact, some people were there for the first time. Said they heard about my show and wanted to check it out, now they said they'll be back. Guess one has to do it "just right" ha ha

Well now, for us it would be two different scenerios. With Ace, it is his temperment, We were asked by the bar owner (with almost no notice) if we would mind if the band played in our spot on a Friday night. I told her that if we had been given notice it would have been fine but not at last minute. She was cool with that and called the band to tear their equipment down( the thing was, they had played the night before and were too lazy to tear down, they were going to play on Sat. also. At any rate, they were told to tear down, we called about 2 hrs before we were to start to be sure that things were going ok and was told that they were there at then so it was a go. When we arrived at the bar, there stuff was still up and we had no where to assemble our stuff. We thought ok, they would be back. After about an hour there was no signs of anyone doing anything about it. We didn't know who they were so we just decided fine, let'em play, there is nothing we can do anyway. Ace was upset, they knew we were to start at 8 and apparently they were in the bar the whole time and just decided to set down and drink. Under other circumstances (like more than 4 hrs notice, I wouldn't have minded but I feel that our time is more valuable than that). Ace just said forget it, we're leaving. Then they spoke up and said hey man, we're sorry, we didn't know you were here. I told them the point was that they knew that we started at 8 and that we needed their stuff moved and was just disregarded. I still think that they had that planned so they wouldn't have to tear down and could just play a few and drink the rest of the time (which is what they did). Our part of being unprofessional was leaving in a huff (we did call the bar owner and tell her before we left) It just wasn't pretty.

sorry, got a little long winded on the other post. My most unprofessional moment was when I almost came to blows with a customer of the bar. Long story short. He had grabbed a mic out of the hands of one of my singers (she never sings.) and knocked over the other mic stand, kept making rude remarks through out the evening to singers and loud enough that I heard them, the icing on the cake was when it was toward the end of the night and we were down to about 4 singers, she decided that she wanted to hear a particular song, and before I knew what was up, she had pumped money in the juke box and stood there saying that somebody could sing with that music. I lost it !! Before I knew it Iwas up in her face telling her how rude she was etc. I told her that I was walking away before this got too far and I did something that she would be sorry for. I walked away and left Ace to tear down by himself. What I should have done was to go behind the bar and cancel out the Jukebox and proceed. Sometimes our emotions take over tho

How about tryin' to do a show in a topless bar and keep a professional appearance about it. Talk about hard and embarassing especially when your wife is your partner! She wouldn't let me hand the mic to anyone that night!!

I would have to say last night was my most unprofessional night. I let er Rip. Well first of all a regulars sister passed away on Monday of diabetes and her best friend sang a song for her when she was done her friend hugged her and two girls who were never in there were there last night and they were a couple and they told Wendy she was a les because they hugged they walked in later so they didn't hear a word about the death and they were trying to pick a fight with her so I had to step in and cool things down I kept telling myself don't get involved but I was thinking of what she was going through well they finally cooled it. Then the undercutting KJ who keeps showing up wherever I do karaoke shows up with his girlfriend and I asked if so and so called them to do karaoke at a place I don't wish to go back too the place it is much more suited for a man to run karaoke there. She said yes. Then she made a point to tell me he had some bad things to say about me I said oh really what did he say? Her reply was ya know the usual I said no enlighten me tell me what he said. She said that he said my boyfriend sucked at singing I said really I didn't know that I had a boyfriend now I'm thinking did I kiss some guy that night or what but I was completely sober so I figured she was just lying. Well that guy showed up around 11:30 and I was trying so hard not to be mad but I walked over to him and asked him what he said and he denied it. So now I actually had a few beers to calm down well I didn't I beleive him I told someone I was going to kick their ass on the microphone and asked the owner if I could kick the F F F out of the bar he said go ahead. But I didn't then one of my regulars gets on the mic and says who's the F F F and I couldn't believe he said that I turned around laughing so hard and yes today I know I was in the wrong but the funny thing is this under cutting KJ who gave me his card offered to burn me karaoke cd's at 5.00 for 20 songs and told me to look at his website and pick 20 songs now as tempted as I am to post his website I won't. I have 3 more nights this week of Halloween parties and I hope they are better than this.

I guess this was unprofessional, it sure was funny. Had a singer say once after her song that I'm paid to say something good about every singer and thus am not sincere nor truthful in the things I say over the mic. I promptly looked at the singer and replied with a smile, "Let's hear it for Jennifer, I think she's a stark raving bitch!" Jaws dropped and laughter ensued. Then I asked what she'd really like to hear me say, she had no comment, just a red face. She's a regular now and suffice to say, we really think she's a sweetie. Just goes to show you can cross the line, you just have to be careful in how you get across them.

DEFINATELY post it Stacy!
Also, please use a little punctuation here and there. A paragraph helps, too! It was only because I WANTED to read what you had to say... so I toughed it out. Normally, run-ons like that I tend to ignore.
This is not a biotch, but a suggestion. 'kay?

Sorry I didn't know I was in school. lol I would love to post it but I would probably have threats against me. He is listed on the KJ list here in Wisconsin so he probably read this here today for all I know.
This was definately crossing the line but it made for a very interesting night. Bar chanting Stacy Stacy Stacy.
I'm probably one of them people who needs chaos in her life or I would be bored. I think I/We should write a song about The karaoke life.

Yes he did tell me in public but seen as he keeps showing up whereever I run karaoke I don't think I better as tomorrow night I start my brand new gig that was brought up in the bidding for business thread and I'm really excited about it and I don't want to see his sorry a** there. Oh ya after I posted on another website where it's gonna be I forgot he went in there with his disc and the owner told me about his version of back up singers that are not even suppose to be in the song. Maybe I won't have to worry. This person has recently lossed his Sunday night gig and maybe 1 other maybe that is why he trying so hard to get my jobs. I do find it ironic that his partner who also showed up Tuesday night with him who NOW also runs karaoke has the exact same library as him. Only if I had the power......

Hey Thanks. I don't think that will be necessary. If I was afraid I wouldn't have shot my mouth off in the first place to him in the bar. At first I was pretty ****ed about this but good things have happend from this. A guy who owns a bar that was in there called me this morning and asked if I was interested in doing karaoke in his bar I asked what night he told to pick any night I want. He is gonna advetise it in the Entertainer he told me with them kind of guts he's putting my business on the front cover I'm like are you serious? He said yes. P.S. I picked the night to compete with the undercutter so it should be interesting. Since all this happend I also found out Ron from closed thread is one of the undercutters regulars now why doesn't that surprise me? This also might be a topic on a local radio staion next week. Hmmmmmm?

Stacy, trust me, this guy wouldn't have a chance against any one of the guys that RC listed. RC, Matt or Tig alone could make that guy cry for his mama! LOL! Great graphic Matt! Posts: 1108 | From: Portland, Oregon | Registered: Apr 1999

Hey Mark that is funny you say that about that song I swear this is the truth last night I was dared by some people to do that song if certain someone showed up well I tried but that song is just a little too hard for me some younger regulars came up and finished it for me.
Just an update on that KJ he not updated his schedule on his website so do ya think he is a little nervous? Supposingly he kj'd free Monday night as a fear of getting a visit and one of his regulars told that I better not post his web address on this forum or he would see me in court and that it didn't matter that he downloaded his whole library from the internet and around here nobody would ever do anything about it. That almost sounds like a challenge to me.
