hey everyone. a friend bought this fellows 320 cd holder to save on time and space for his kj business big mistake now his disks are cracking in a star shape around the center hole from the weight becuz it doesn'nt lay flat so you people dont want to buy this folder has any one had the same problems on the same case please let me know.

good advice, case... the most you would ever want to use is a Caselogic 256...if you aren't using papers in there, they will hold that many safely...and the lifetime warranty is a certainty! I have replaced over ten of my old Caselogics by mailing them back to the company (attn: Warranty dept.) and they sent me brand new ones! Not too many companies do that.... I bought a case (don't know the brand- bought it from Target) and it supposedly held like 300 discs...well, I filled it full of my Christmas music, and when I went to carry it, the handle ripped right off!! *sigh* nothing like a CaseLogic....

Just be sure to leave the book shut except when removing/replacing your disc to keep grit out. NEVER use the Case Logic books over 100 disc book's last page's 4 pockets since grit congregates there. wipe the pockets out when empty occasionally to keep grit removes.
Discs will rotate in the page pocket so grit will the off the data in a circular pattern most of the time (the label side is the thinnest side, only microns thick). Gouges also do occur from grit, Sound Choice Spotlight discs are THE most expensive AND susceptible to this type of damage.

I gave up on the Case Logic books because I had the same problem, lost two discs that broke due to the strain put on them in the larger books. The worst part was, they were parts of sets and I had a VERY hard time replacing them. Have since gone to a suitcase style case of solid wood with my discs in plastic inserts. The case is HEAVY when loaded and bulky, BUT no more broken discs!!

How about Univenture Modified Jewel Sleeves (style 30821) and their 400 CD case? Sleeves and suitcase style transport is the safest, environmentally cleanest and most space efficient way to store and transport discs, my opinion of course.

Univentures disc case was horrible. The outside areas are deeper than the inner, making the discs flop around. Grundorf makes great cases in carpeted wood, that match most carpeted racks. Rondo Music has the best price for the the Grundorf cases (for the starting bid on ebay for some reason).
Univenture sleeves are great. They used to have different colors, which is how I separate the brands from each other. Now I have to resleeve them when I run out of some colors.
My Spotlights are all still in their jewel boxes (replaced when broken).
I can't stand the books, although I have them for my second set. I will only buy them if they open flat.

Larri, you probably used the old style Univenture case? They have since improved their case design. I also use the Grundorf cases. Very sturdy, and yes, I got mine from Rondo! I'm in Barnegat, at the Jersey shore.

This is an interesting post since I've been using case logic binders the last three years, but only after realizing the damage they caused. I've got two of the 284 binders full of karaoke and four more with dj hits. I thought it would be a great idea, but then came the RUB. Literally, all of my discs are scratched now. I guess it's because I travel with them in my Karaoke Ambulance (Can't be called The Party Doc unless you drive an ambulance). I went from jewel cases for 20 years to the binders about three years ago after injuring my back lugging that stuff around too much. Much to my dismay, the discs got scratched. So, with so much product now "mine forever" (I used to be complimented on the discs that I traded or sold because they were in such 'new shape') I just load all my new additions in right along with the rest. And I have had some problems with broken discs, too. Oh well. If you haven't gone to these binders yet...DON'T.
