BC,

I just wanted to clarify my quest of Tom Petty. I am well aware of the rule concerning compiling his material. I just wanted to know if you might have some advance information on what, if any of the tunes I mentioned (or others) might be included on new discs, such as Hits of the 90's, 70's-80s', etc.

"Into the Great Wide Open" (1991) is a great tune. I forgot all about it until you mentioned it. In fact, that entire album has been overlooked by every karaoke manufacturer (as far as I can tell). It gets my vote.

Hey BC,

In May 2001 you posted that a 3 of a Kind disk of:

Harry Chapin/Gordon Lightfoot/Jim Croce

was going to be done. Did I miss it?

Van Halen vs. Aerosmith
Queen vs. Styx
Journey vs. Foreigner

These last 4 discs have mostly new songs on them (new for SC). Sorry... I will not be responding anywhere about what songs are included.

Interesting thread from a historical perspective of the past year. Silly Songs, Rodney Carrington, Ray Stevens, AC/DC vs. KISS, Journey vs. Foreigner, Van Halen vs. Aerosmith, All Made Up With No Place To Go (Crue, Alice, etc.)....

Chapin/Croce/Lightfoot: Kind of screwed the pooch for this disc when we put three new Chapin songs (for SC) on 8668. That left four new Croce songs to put together with 5 songs by the other two that we had already released on previous Spots. I don’t think that's enough for those particular artists to make that disc fly, so we canned it.

So what to do with the 4 new Croce songs? They will end up on a Star, along with 4 Lightfoot songs from our catalog (new redone versions of Carefree Highway and If You Could Read My Mind – I think). July, maybe August.

No Queen vs. Styx disc. After researching songs that we hadn’t done yet, we didn’t feel there were enough strong candidates to create a whole disc of “new” songs that would have any appeal beyond core fans. So we took what we thought were the strongest and most requested songs and put them on 8725.

We’re going to take the bulk of our existing Queen catalog, possibly add two new songs (or maybe not), and release a Queen Spot when school starts again.

Hey BC

A Harry Chapin/Gordon Lightfoot/Jim Croce disc is right down my alley. Hopefully the songs will be those not already available. Nothing worse than duplicate songs especially since these artist have collectively produced and recorded hundreds of songs.

I missed the previous post. It would be criminal to can the disc as I said there are a number of hit recordings of these artists, enough infact to make many discs. I could name the songs but time doesn't permit me, however I will mention Jim Croce's 50th anniversary album as having 40 hits alone.

Tim, I don't think there will be any Chapin there. Sounds like a 4-Lightfoot/4 Croce Star. Sounds good to me, although I'm guessing Edmund Fitz will be on it which I have on a Spot already.

BC, any news on the Jerry Reed Star you hinted at previously?

July for Jerry, I think.

Speaking from my own personal standpoint, you could win money from me by betting that Jim Croce even recorded 40 songs. I guess you're a big fan, because the reality is that he had maybe 10 songs reach "hit" status. I don't know if the songs are already available for karaoke, but Sound Choice hasn't released them. Hopefully, they'll fit the bill.

Hey, BC!

If Chapin seems to be out of the loop for the disc concept, may I suggest perhaps put James Taylor with Jim & Gord. There are a number of hits of his yet to be put on the karaoke format, and being a singer/songwriter
certainly places him in good company there...

lots of songs. LOTS of'em!

(hell, since I'm dreaming, can we please get "Mona" out on karaoke? It's a fairly obscure but funny song about a pig from his "That's Why I'm Here" album. Every time he comes to town, my sister and I are up front screaming "PLAY MONA!!!" )
thanks,

Hi there,

I'm very excited about the Headbanger's Hits - Vol. 11 as it has DU HAST by RAMMSTEIN on it. I would like to know if this track has English backup vocals on it. I'm hoping that it does not as myself and several of my customers want to sing it in German, but if the track has the English backup vocals as well, it wouldn't sound very well with the English and German combined.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Jerry Reed SS disc?!

How could have missed this info?! I've been waiting for SC to release his material on one disc for the longest time. Glad to see it's going to happen!

Yeah, Tony. BC put this at the end of a post of mine from Feb 27, when I posted about East Bound and Down being on a discontinued disc. He didn't post the info separately, so it might not have been noticed very much.

quote:
Yes, Dan, 8434 seems to be discontinued. But, if I were a betting man,
I'd wait on the possibility of a Jerry Reed Star disc with both those
songs (not real soon, but not too much later, either).

Hey BC, Is there a reasonable possibility of any of these being done on a disk other than a brick:
1. Steppenwolf - Snowblind Friend
2. Grand Funk Railroad - Inside Looking Out
3. The Who - The Punk Versus The Godfather
4. Traffic - Rock And Roll Stew
5. King Crimson - Court Of The Crimson King
6. Quicksilver Messenger Service - Who Do
You Love
7. Jimi Hendrix - Stone Free
or Eric Clapton - Stone Free
8. Fleetwood Mac - Sisters Of The Moon
9. Warren Zevon - Excitable Boy
or Lawyers, Guns and Money
10. Dr. John - Right Place, Wrong Time
11. J. Geils Band - Looking For A Love
12. Animals - When I Was Young
13. Doors - Five To One
14. Led Zeppelin - Hey Hey, What Can I Do
15. Blues Brothers - She Took The Katy

Please, Please I get asked for these regularly, by more than same person time fter time.

Oh, that's okay. If it's his name, then I'm good enough with that. I thought that maybe BC was some kind of really important title... or something like that.

Yeah, like "Big Cheese"!! lol Since this was the 'ask bc' thread, I should have posed my 'has there ever been a double disc done before' question here instead of the HB thread.

I am curious as well, regarding the "double-disc" inquiry. Moreover, I am also curious as to whether or not SC would ever consider the prospect of a double-disc release, if, in-fact it has not already been done at any past point-in-time.
