oh Tor. While I absolutely LOVE our family karaoke sunday afternoons, I also dig the wacky breakouts of stripperoke on just about any night of the week

I feel your pain

Well you can scratch off my thursday gig for about a month. Oddballs told me they were making $500 in sales and can't afford to keep me until bowling starts.

On a better note I will be starting a monday gig on the 8th, and that is at the Steelhorse Tavern in Portsmouth RI.

Thanks

Anyone in Orlando??? I need somewhere decent to go here. We have one at a flea market in Osceola but I hate going there. They have their family there all the time. They sing most of the time, even if there is a list of people waiting to sing. I HATE THAT!!!

Thanks for the referral. I may be too far away fro O-town for them, but here is a suggestion for a good time:
http://www.katiejoyce.com/

You can also pull the Orlando Sentinel up online and search Karaoke. Call to make sure the show is still valid.

Katie rocks tho. Tell her I said so.

If ya get to Flagler vicinity, stop by. I live in Deland but I commute to Flagler. Via I-4 to 95, my shows are just over an hour from ya!

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to getting my shows listed on the net and have been K/J'ing for over five years now and didn't see anything listed here for Washington State so I posted info in my previous reply for dates and times of my shows I'm currently doing two shows a week with two more in negotiations. I'm looking for ideas to increase attendence, things that won't cost an arm and leg and things that have worked for others here. "ANY" help will be greatly appreciated.

Take care and keep those discs a spinning, and the people singin',

Hiya skip, welcome to the board!
I don't use a supplier....I make them myself.
I buy my t-shirts at walmart.....on sale of course. white works best. Then I use my Sierra Print Artis 8.0. My karaoke business name is Froggy Singin' Karaoke. So i use the frogs in my graphics book, find them on the web, import them. Then in my graphics software I lay it out how i want it. Use iron on paper......print it and iron it.
I give on t-shirt away at each show. I made a special t-shirt with each Venue name on it. They hang it in the bar....AND when someone wants one....I make especially for them. It takes me about 17 min for each t-shirt...from "thought" to finish. And it is WAY cheaper for me to make them myself. Hope this helps you. adios, kdiva

Well let's add another one to get Sound Waves back up to 6 days.

Thursday's Rhino Bar & Grille 337 Thames St. Newport R.I. 02840. (401)-846-0707

This has the potential of being the crown jewel of all our shows. Located right in the middle of downtown Newport, it has a great College crowd that keeps it busy for the winter, then tons of summer tourists for the summer. And I didn't even have to sell the gig, they approached me.

Well chalk up another new place.

Keep the Big Dawgs listing, and add:

Christies Resturant 335 Thames St. Newport RI

Also my site is up and running so if they need a link it's http://soundwaveskaraoke.com

Hey everyone!
First, let me say...geez I had no idea I'd been "away" so long. Days just fly. We're busy with our labours of love. I'm up to my elbows with office admin, website and "value-add features, moderating our own lil' message board, ordering disks, publishing our new songbooks, planning our upcoming wedding (just 30 days away now) ...and raising the kids ...whew!
I often find at the end (or the beginning for that matter) of any given day that I haven't got two brain cells left to rub together.

I've added all the new shows. Check the "when In..." link to make sure I got your info posted accurately.

Hello everyone,

Is it true that no one has mentioned New York City yet? I'm sure that some of you will travel here, or know someone that will, especially since spring will soon be upon us.

So, I have a Monday night gig at a bar called Iggy's on the upper east side (2nd Ave bet 75th St. and 76th St.) It's from 8pm to 12, possibly later if the crowd is pumped and the tips are flowing. Often, especially early on, it's slow however. So if you want to sing in a small rotation, come to my show! It's a very fun, laid back vibe.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Hope to see some of you in NYC!

Mike

Hi All!

I just realized that I did not list another of our shows in my previous post. Full House Entertainment has hosted a karaoke show for several years (featuring Shanne') at:

Catchers Bar & Grill
501 N. Mustang Rd.
Yukon, OK
405-577-8270
Tuesday 9:00 - 1:00

As I mentioned in my previous post, we have a "Where To Sing" board in our store that lists the shows we have confirmed since opening in March. With the exception of Monday you can choose from several different shows in the metro area every night of the week!

Happy Karaoke!
Susie

well, with Xenon west shutting down a week after letting me go, and Illusions closing, my karaoke show is currently boxed up in my van waiting for a new home.

Oh- and to add to the jocularity, my strip club that I worked at for 3 years or so closed as well...

This has GOT to be some kind of record!

RC... check out the old Illusions place... it's back open, under a new name of "Hot Shotz"... I was driving home last Sat night, and noticed this.

They had karaoke... along with a hand written sign. Looks like they just opened up THAT night. Unsure what all the details are.

Unsure of the owner, but "Mike", the white haired thin guy (I think you said he was either an owner or partial owner) was singing when I walked in. I didn't ask any questions as I knew this was your gig at one point.

Take care, and best of luck to you. You also might want to contact Nico Wind (Karaoke Pony) here, as she might know of a venue that's looking for a host.

Matt

Heh..yeah, it's called "Hot Shotz" now..
Back a while, Mike and his partner decided to add more karaoke to the week, BUT instead of giving me a shot at it, had some "Battle of the KJs" (which I didn't participate in), and so they had someone else on Wednesdays. Nice people, but we got into a little tiff regarding their "Mystery Song" contest- they insisted that it was a friend's idea, and pooh-poohed the notion that I came up with the original ("There's nothing original- it's all been done before")

AT any rate, when Illusions went under, the KJ and his girlfriend managed to corral the necessary funds. Since they have their own system, they wouldn't have a need for me, now would they?

So I'm patiently waiting to snag a gig right up the street....Sinatra's Revenge!!!

(by that, I'm referring to Sinatra saying that the best revenge of all is massive success....)

PS: In the meantime, I'm selling a few things- anyone interested in some vintage Godzilla toys? A steel drum? (I'm not selling the show, sorry gang..)

First RC, what kind of Godzilla toys? Flame, I just had a woman from Tampa come to my show up here in Ohio. Her name was Edy. She's known as the 'karaoke queen' in that area. She was absolutly fantastic. She gave me a magazine called Karaoke Kalendar on which the cover she appears. It list all the places to karaoke in that area. I do see a website is under construction, but I found a phone number and name. Frank at 727-946-5555 is person who keeps their listing updated. Maybe he can send you this newspaper style magazine. Also, there is an e-mail address <sales@karaokekalendar.com>. I understand that Edy (who was in Ohio for 50 year high school reunion) sings at Bronco Bills on Tuesday. She does a killer version of "Buzz, Buzz". Anyhoo, hope this helps.

Cool! Edy was a blast. If you do run into her, tell her Chuck "the bad boy of karaoke" said hello and make her do "Buzz, Buzz" and "You Got To Have Boobs". You will enjoy yourself. Drop me a line at <ubstar@earthlink.net> and I will give you Edy's e-mail addy. I'm sure she'd love to give you the tour.

I know this is precautionary but considering the keys dodged lightning twice i.e. hurricane charley and frances i'm taking precautions this time. Can you put a shows on hold due to hurricane Ivan notice? Therefore best case scenario take a week off. Worst case scenario....well 'nuff said.
